New York City Police Museum is a fun place to take your kids especially if they are into playing cops or any of those cop shows. It's pretty small for a museum but they have some very interesting memorabilia on display such as pictures of cops from fifty years ago or different types of guns. The museum is also free.

The Police Museum is a small but interesting museum that is located in an old precinct building in the financial district. It's donation only and they have over 200 years of police memorabilia such as Al Capone's maching gun, radios and old tags of criminals fingerprints. They show pictures of what cops, both men and women, used to wear years ago. It's very interesting

You can see the history of the New York City Police Department unfold at this downtown museum a few blocks south of the Speaport.
The main feature in this museum is the 9/11 exhibit. There are artifacts, photograohs and exclusive interviews you won't find anywhere else.
It is very cool to see how the police cars, uniforms and policemen themselves have evolved throught their 150+ year history.

In between all the huge buildings downtown is the Police Museum, in an old precinct building. It's donation only, and it has three, somewhat sparse, floors of memorabilia of 200 years of NYC police squad. Lots of interesting stuff, including old ID tags of criminals before the age of fingerprinting, and a display on what women cops had to wear back in the day. Good, informative fun, and a display on the tv show Law and Order.
