Astor Wines and Spirits is really a nice Manhattan wine store - the wine selection is really significant in terms of varying regions and prices. The staff is very nice and a good discussion on wines. Overall, I would definitely go there irrelevant of the wine I was in the market for. However, for spirits there are definitely better places - being a Manhattan store I do not believe it has the room, literally, to be all things for everyone in wines and spirits.

This store is for those who love to drink or buying a gift for someone who loves to drink. It has a large selection of alcohol, from hard liquor, wines, cocktails, and mixes. It's a great place to buy a gift for housewarming or finding a wine to celebrate that special occasion. I always come here to buy Rum, Whiskey, and Vodka to mix drinks for parties. The price is a little pricey but selection here is large. The staff are always friendly and helpful when I had questions on mixtures and what wines would suit my taste.

Great selection of wines at very reasonable prices. The staff is very helpful as well. However, for hard liquor I would try price cutters on Broadway just south of Astor on the west side of the street. I tend to buy my wine at Astor place and then go to the discount place for scotch.

The store carries tons of wine brands and offers such a huge selection it will be difficult not to find what you really want. The staff there are friendly and helpful and always ready to suggest new and interesting wines to taste. I'd highly recommend going to their wine tastings. They have them every so often. If they happen not to have your wine in stock, the friendly help staff will get on the computer and just order it for you. It's as simple as that. I'd check the place out, as they seem to carry everything!

This is a large wine store located in the Union Square/East Village near NYU. There is actually another wine store one block away if you want to compare prices. Astor offers a large selection and has decent prices. On the weekends, they have tastings which are helpful and free. I often come here to purchase a bottle of wine for myself or to bring to dinner parties. The selection is so large and varied, I'm sometimes at a loss as to what to pick; so is the staff. They are friendly if approached but don't really know their stuff.

Very large selection and good prices. I like to go in and pick a random wine sometimes because it wont break your wallet. If you need help from the staff then at least have some basic info ready, i.e. fish, chicken, price range, dry or sweet, etc. as staff is a little harried at times,especially with all the commuters picking up bottles for their dinners.

Astor Wines is the place I go. It’s got a massive selection. Honestly, massive. It’s also got a huge range of prices. I love to pick up a rioja for $6 for cooking with as much as I love picking up a more pricey bottle for my friends. They’ve also got a wall of liquor along the back. The only real problem is that it's intimidating. It's a wine supermarket and if you don't know what you want, it can be a bit scary. Also, the staff are very helpful, but usually very busy helping all the scared people. Still, I wouldn't go anywhere else, at least not any where else in the Village.

This place has great bargains for wine. There are so many wine to choose from it's mind boggling! There's red, white and so many different kind. The surrounding is friendly and well light. It's like a supermarket. You can walk freely without any people interrupting. It's a huge place and it's located in the heart of astro place. You can easily walk to other shops around this area.
