Seriously, the number of reviewers who came here and rated it poorly because they ordered off the menu and found it pricey for small portions obviously do not understand " fine dining". I hate to sound like a snob, but portions are not meant to be huge!
Anyways, we ordered the $120 Omokase (tasting menu) and it is beyond ridiculous how amazing it was. We sat at the sushi bar and watched our sushi chef prepare our food which was beautiful to look at and heavenly on the palate. The sashimi was fresh and light. Interspersed with the raw were hot dishes that also blew us away- the shrimp was to die for.
For dessert, we were given a palate cleanser and then presented with a tofu cheesecake ( doesn't sound great but it's the best cheesecake I've ever had and I've had lots) that was light and not overly sweet with the creamiest texture. This was balanced with two apple dumplings and two tuiles. I so wanted to finish the whole thing because it may have been the best dessert of my life thus far, but I was too full from our 12 courses of sushi to eat another bite.
I rarely walk out of a sushi restaurant feeling this full or this satisfied but NND did it for me. It's too bad so many other reviewers had such a negative experience; maybe they just need to try the Omokase next time!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: That I can't eat there everyday!

Very affodable and family friendly. The drinks are a little pricy but very good. I live in New Jersey and would come across the bridge to eat here again. Tell a friend!!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city!! Hands down. I went to Sato after reading various positive reviews on Yelp, Menupages, City Search etc and could not have been more pleased with my experience there. We walked in and were immediatley greated with a genuine warm welcome by the staff - the owner himself came to our table and walked us through the menu! Personnal service like that is such a rariety in the city. He even brought us a special free appetizer to try - really great!! Some noteworthy dishes are the beef tataki (probably one of the best things i have tasted), the spicey tuna, and the ooba-maki. Seriously so so good. They have a lot of unique rolls you can't find anywhere else - with so many sushi restaurants in the city, their menu makes them stand out. My roommate and I now go there at least every other week. The owner remembered us by name and we notice he treats all his customers like gold. The restaurant is his passion - the food is his artistic expression. Simply put, great food, great service great atmosphere. You must check this place out!!!
Pros: unqiue rollls and amazing service

My husband and I were so amused by this Asian Bartender!! Just got back in town from long trip, were so craving for some nice sushi on last Satuarday night... therefore we decided to go to this gem sushi place in the villege. As we entered the restaurant, was so smittened by this adorable bartender, she looked like a delicated asian doll walking out of a shodow box! I suggested to sit at the bar, Great choice!! We've been a lot of service bars, but this one is perfection! I was so trilled that we ordered a bunch of a la cart and side dishes, the bartender didnt even write down out order but everything came out on time and correctly! Here I gotta appoligize to her that I was questioning about it.
We got the spicy rock shrimp, yellowtail sushimi ap, and scallop carpachio for starters... my husband doesnt like fish roes, before we requested to sub the roes , the bartender bring this up asking us if we like sea urchin or fish roes, cos these two things were inculded. Simple things like this can really show that if the server cares about customers.. we were really impressived by the service that we got from this girl who is not just another pretty face with whitend teeth showing out. I loved the spicy rock shrimp, and my husband fell for its salmon toro.. nigori sake that i got was great but slightly overpriced; my husband's shiso leaf sochu martini was just perfection like everything else! We will go back for the bar for sure! The one thing that I didnt like was the decor and the choice of the dvd playing.. its some jp dvd tape on that night... we couldnt understand it at all.. and they should put more effort on the decor.
Pros: great bartender! nice food! spicy rock shrimp does rock!!
Cons: decor. tape playing

Picture it. St. Patricks Day, 2007. We scurried past the drunken debauchery spilling out from neighboring bars and pubs, and came upon a cute Pan-asian restaurant off a side street in the village. It was a blustery cold evening and Cafe Asean's windows were foggy and inviting. We sat near the gas heated lamps in the enclosed back patio and settled into a great meal. The Sotong calamari had a great dipping sauce and was light and crispy. Kari Kapitan (Chicken with coconut curry) was tender with a tasty sauce. Gaeng Kheow (Green Curry with shrimp and vegetables) was mildly spicy in a good way and very fresh. Salmon Goreng entree was crispy with a great pineapple curry sauce. It was later in the evening and the birthday party crowds were dispersing. Our service came from a rarest-of-rare breed of New Yorker - an optomistic and authenticaly nice waiter who actually enjoys his job. Post dinner chat was charming and refreshing. We left full, happy and eager to come back and try a few more dishes.
Pros: Friendly, Great Food, Inexpensive, Comfortable and no attitude

A stunning presentation on a plate one after another..with a blend of authenticity and quintessential quality from Executive Chef Yamasaki. I recommend you once dine at the counter seats (open kitchen) and meet the adorable chef, who nurtures your dish with extreme care for detail and finishing. experience how warmful he is and meaningful his dishes are.
No food is ever perfect; whatever the however it is. But remember the food that made you truly, purely happy? perhaps with your beloved friends, or with brothers, mom and dad? I remember mine.,it was here at Kai.
Pros: earthy lunch and heavenly dinner
Cons: is there?

Now the person reviewing below me must have some sort of wallet issue because it's common knowledge to order at least 20 dollars. YOU ARE AN IDIOT! 20 dollars is not going to make break ur bank unless ur living on 20 dollars a week. Think before you review!
but I digress.
The sushi is always fresh and the selection varies day to day. Often there are fish selections that are new to me. To many, including myself, selecting my meal is a daunting task and the waiters at Sen-nin are very helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, anyone looking for a decent meal at a reasonably high price.
Prices go up because of inflation, the staff at restaurants are people too and need to survive, hence prices go up with the cost of living. DUH!
If you'll pay premium for telephones, clothing, television, you should do it for your food as well.
If you don't want to dish out the cash then go to the local corner store, buy prepacked sushi and enjoy the excessive bowel movements to follow and the nasty flavors that accompany the "sushi" sold at those supermarkets.
Thank you Sushi Sen-nin for staying around for so long! I look forward to my next visit!
Pros: Sushi is great, wait staff knows the food well
Cons: wait staff could be more knowledgeable with alcoholic beverages
