We ordered a large order of ice cream cakes three days in advance for an office party. We confirmed and re-reviewed the order a day before it was scheduled to be delivered. Our delivery time was 12:30 PM and when it didn't arrive I called. The first time I called, I was put on hold then hung up on. I tried to call again and they left the phone off the hook for about half an hour. When I finally got through at 1:00 PM, they said the delivery man left 10 minutes ago. The cakes didn't arrive until 2:00 PM with one missing and all severely melting. Our offices were on 38th Street! It does not take over an hour to deliver 4 blocks. We were promised bowls and spoons and there were none. We will never order from Cold Stone again from this experience. Pros: Cakes were good Cons: Poor service, delivery slow,

I think it's worth it. The friendly staff were great about directing people and being quick. (There is a no-wait stand where you can get your ice cream without the song and dance.) The wait for the normal line was about 20 min but it was bearable because we needed time to decide what to order. Both times I've been there, they played great tunes while you wait. Sometimes they burst into song. As for the ice cream, they have so many options, it's really hard to decide. Just pick something with a bunch of add-ins and come back next time for a different combination. I had sweet cream and raspberries one time and rocky road another time. I really like that it's in the middle of Times Square, near Port Authority and the subways. It's easily accessible and open in the middle of the night! I understand that the singing ice cream makers would appeal to kids, or even to first-time adults. I understand the appeal of choosing what you want to stick in your ice cream. What I don't understand is people lauding the actual taste of the ice cream. While the flavor is okay, if bland, the texture is weird and gooey - almost like they had to make it easier to mix by adding something not normally found in ice cream. For my money, a double-scoop of Haagen Daz is a better taste experience. Pros: Fun, Great Selection Cons: Flavor

Cold Stone makes delicious ice cream, created on slabs of frozen granite stone. The assortment of toppings and combinations is thrilling, and even their low-cal Sweet Cream (Vanilla) is quite tasty. Thankfully, the high prices prevent me from developing an unhealthy ice cream habit. I guess it's a service to society, really, to have such tasty ice cream be cost-prohibitive. I would be hard pressed to find ice cream of a lesser quality than what is found at this place.
