Here you will find beautiful Indian colors, textiles, prints. Here you can indulge your secret desire to turn your bedroom into an exotic, harem-like boudoir. Here you can spend a lot of money before you know it.
Seemingly weekly, they re-dress the window display with some other Southeast Asian vision of a bed or furniture tableau. Candles, incense, and a small amount of colorful, exotic clothing are here too. Cushions abound. Wall hangings and sashes. Intricately carved trunks.
Wish I could afford it! You can do like I do and leave nose-prints on the window while drinking in the inspiration.
Around the corner from the pricey and special restaurant Rain, which appears to have been decorated by people with Pondicherri sensibilities. I think the store and the restaurant are related somehow.

I sort of lose it in this luxury linen store...it is "beyond."
This is the kind of store where, prompted by the care I take of my friends (by way of great gifts), I find myself asking, "Why don't I take this fine care of my self?"
Schwitzer offers the most inspiring selection of bed, table, bath and dressing (night wear) linens you have ever imagined. This is where I go in the city to buy really beautiful (not trashy) night gowns that, while expensive, last forever (with care).

If you've never been here and you like home organization, you have to see it to believe it. This store is chock-full of everything you need to sort, organize, store, and bring function to your home...or tiny studio apartment. I have never left empty handed (even when I am walking by and just go in to browse). To top its amazing inventory, the staff here are some of the most competent and friendly individuals in the retail business. I have high standards, and they meet them 100%--I say that about few places.

the owner of this tiny boutique travels all around the world to collect and sell these amazing plates and serving dishes. they are all totally novel and unusual, but what they have in common is a distinctive modern aethetic of function, simplicity, beauty, high quality ceramics or glass, and a delicate tastefulness of design. trust me, no one will ignore any dish, vase, or platter from this store when they are at your house. going in there makes me want to buy everything. i wish it wasn't so expensive!

I love shopping at kitchen supply stores rather than specialty shops like Williams Sonoma etc because you get great utility at a lot lower price. This place is great for anyone, not just restauranteurs. It's fun to find all the chef tools and to buy gifts for your chef(-like) friends. Sometimes it's nice to just browse, and as of recently there just opened a gelato stand right outside, so you can't do better than that.

This is just the cutest housewares store. They range from the useful, needed, practical items, to fun, sort of quirky items that are also appropriate for gift giving as well. This neighborhood is a fun shopping destination for cute little shops like this one. Plus there is a really good cofee shop right next door.

I had looked for black sheet-cover set(pillow cover, fitted sheet, quilt cover) for a while and finally found it just in the neighborhood! This store is located at the intersection of 1st avenue and 17th street, right beside the Stuveysant Town. It seems that you can get an "unexpected" discount by the clerk. In my past two shoppings, I paid a bit less than I had calculated. The only one defect is that you have to spend a while on picking out your favorite from a mess. Though some casings are broken, you can always another one in mint condition.
