Stayed here During my intial visit to NYC. Was totally thrilled with our stay. Room was #421, a corner room. Don't know if other rooms are smaller but our's was quite comfortable! There were four of us, kids 10 and 5 and we had loads of room to move around and TWO closets! Room clean. Only area that could use some work was blinds on the windows that were really dirty, but there were heavy curtains on the window also so we pulled then and that solved that problem! We were never in the room during the day anyway! Two blocks from Times Square and close to everything in the area. At $120.00 a night this was a great deal. Parking garage across street. Hotel will validate your parking ticket for the lower rate! I would highly recommend to anyone! Don't let the name keep you from checking it out!!

Ever try finding a hotel in Manhattan for a reasonable price where you can park your car without paying more for parking than the room. Well this place is great. If you stay the night (approx $120+ midweek) the over night parking is only $10. It is located about 4 blocks west of Times Square. It has a pool on the 9th floor with great views of the city. The rooms facing East have a great view of the city. Highly recommended. Not luxurious but a nice to play to stay while on a budget.

The Hotel Pennsylvania is a HUGE hotel located in Herald Square, just a block away from Macy's, Penn Station, and Madison Square Garden. The rooms are clean and the staff is polite. The furnishings leave something to be desired, but if you are looking for a clean and inexpensive place to stay right in the middle of NYC, this is definitely the place. It's definitely in the better class of bargain hotels in NYC.

The Avalon is a great European hotel. The hotel in general is very clean. It is also in a great location, convenient to many tourist attractions. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Very good value hotel. I did not find the bed to be that comfortable however, but maybe that’s just me.

More
The Washington Square Hotel must be listed in New York City Guide books in every country in the world. The lobby is an international terminal, with half a dozen languages being spoken at any given moment. It's website can be accessed in French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Portugese as well as English. And there's a good reason that tourists from all over keep returning here - it may not seem like a bargain - rooms start in the $150 range and go up - but considering the location - in the heart of Greenwich Village - and by NYC standards that's pretty good.

The room we stayed in was very small. We had a great view of a brick wall (yippee). The room was pretty clean though and our bed was pretty comfortable. If you just need a place to sleep for the night, this hotel will be fine. But if you want something more, than spend a few more bucks and get a better hotel.
