The San Carlos is a great location to both Times square and Fifth avenue shopping. Close to a subway line and Grand Central station. The staff friendly and helpful. The one problem was the continental breakfast. On our first morning there they had bagels, toast, yogurt and pastries as well as juice and coffee/tea. The next 4 mornings we saw only the juice and coffee/tea and yogurt and then little deserts. What happened to the bagels and toast? The rooms were well maintained although we found the bed to be very stiff and the pillows-ugh. So many hotels offer bed systems and when you are just 1 block away from the Waldorf-Astoria a little more attention to the mattress and pillows would be a good idea. Our stay there was pleasant but I would not stay there again-it didn't live up to my expections. Pros: Good location Cons: Hard mattress and pillows

My family and I were vacationing for spring break and stay at San Carlos Hotel. We were very well please with the customer service and the cleanness of the rooms and overall hotel. Guest services was excellent in giving entertainment info on surrounding attractions. My family and I would definitely stay a San Carlos Hotel again and recommend them to others.

we didnt have the wedding here - it was on the west side, but we had the rehersal dinner and brunch on the east side of midtown. in looking around this hotel seemed a much better value than alot of other things in the neighborhood. they were very accomidative. the rooms were quite nice - contemporary feeling but not overwhelmingly so, you know the all white kind or the ones where its so dark you need a flashlight... the only knock was that the rooms were a tad on the small side.

A Midtown East hotel that's convenient for the touristy or shop-crazy traveler. Contributor
on 12-26-2006
In Short
Located near Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, the United Nations and Radio City Music Hall, the hotel has 147 pleasant rooms, all of which have fully-equipped kitchenettes, which makes it suitable for both families and individual travelers. The rooms are also equipped with bathrobe, trouser press, safe, iron/ironing board and data port phone, as well as the more traditional hotel accoutrements like cable TV and private bathroom. Complimentary continental breakfast is included in your stay at this quiet hotel. Special Internet rates are available. Plus, they have some of the friendliest hotel staff in the city.
