It helps being the only game in town and, if you believe the claim on their website, they're the only welding and gas supplier in the city. A bit of a schlep, between tenth and eleventh avenues on west 52nd street, it'snonetheless THE place for welding equipment, gas welding apparatus, propane, hand tools, power tools and so on. And the guys are terrific - informative and helpful.

Here you will find beautiful Indian colors, textiles, prints. Here you can indulge your secret desire to turn your bedroom into an exotic, harem-like boudoir. Here you can spend a lot of money before you know it.
Seemingly weekly, they re-dress the window display with some other Southeast Asian vision of a bed or furniture tableau. Candles, incense, and a small amount of colorful, exotic clothing are here too. Cushions abound. Wall hangings and sashes. Intricately carved trunks.
Wish I could afford it! You can do like I do and leave nose-prints on the window while drinking in the inspiration.
Around the corner from the pricey and special restaurant Rain, which appears to have been decorated by people with Pondicherri sensibilities. I think the store and the restaurant are related somehow.

This is fantasy land for the house obsessed - a veritable disney theme park of tchochkas and trinkets from every corner of the globe. A museum of beautiful things that you can not merely covet, but fondle, not merely hold but own. For a price. ABC is not cheap, and even when things are on sale, well, it's still no bargain. But go to experience the main floor. It's like an international souk where you can lose yourself in the sensual delights. You've stepped through the looking glass into a world of crystal chandeliers and silken pillows, exotically scented candles and elaborately decorated vases, exquiste estate jewelry and huggable stuffed toys.
Step out of the world for an hour and into a dream

Few places in Manhattan remain "authentic." In a city awash with me-too "print" and frame shops, the Old Print Center remains alone. It is like a museum that does not charge admission.
One highlight here is the impressive collection of topographical prints. Browsers can find fascinating maps of old New York, some depicting the original Dutch colony that extended no further north than Wall St. (hence the name - it marked the northern most wall of the then-small village)
There is a wide range of still lifes, portrait prints, art prints, and bird/wildlife prints. Half of the fun is trying to find them in the archaic filing system.
Your enjoyment of the Old Print Center is further enriched by understanding its history. The current owner/manager, Michael Lucus, is the son of Phyllis Lucas who ran this shop as a thriving center of NYC's mid-20th Century art world. Phyllis was Dali's exclusive NYC printer for a ten-year span of Dali's career. Ask Michael and he might let you see the original Dali prints lying in a drawer in the back room.
He also does custom framing jobs (of his own prints, or yours). If you have purchased an expensive piece of art at a local gallery or at one of the auction houses, bring it to Michael to preserve and frame; he is one of the only qualified people for miles around.
It seems that hardly anyone ever comes in here (except to gawk at the interesting maps) and even fewer ever seem to buy anything. It's hard to understand how the shop can remain open on such a prime, expensive spot (52nd St and 2nd Ave in Turtle Bay). Perhaps Michael makes a mint on the occasional custom job. A few years back, his sister took half the collection out west to make money off of rich folks decorating their winter ski lodges. The shop remains open as a labor of love. See it quick - one day, when Michael is done, the Old Print Center will be done too. And NYC will have lost another original.

The Park Ave 24 Hr Locksmith is a great company. As the name suggests, they offer 24 hour locksmith service, which has always arrived and worked quickly, my friends say (I’ve never had to use them). The guys at the actual store will also duplicate keys and stuff like that (they won’t hassle you about the do not duplicate thing, either).

the beds here are totally fun. all very contemporary italian furniture. prices are actually affordable for this type of furnityure as well. the only thing i would knock them on is their customer service. for starters our bed took like 2 to 3 months longer than they told us to arrive. and when it did we had problems with the service people who assembled the bed.

I'm amazed that Rainbow is in the neighborhood because the have such good prices. There is a large selection of everything from housewares to hardware stuff (in the basement) to cosmetics and stationary to dishes. It's fun to see the things they have on display for clearance. You can really get anything there. It's the place I like to go most to get anything I need for the home.

I sort of lose it in this luxury linen store...it is "beyond."
This is the kind of store where, prompted by the care I take of my friends (by way of great gifts), I find myself asking, "Why don't I take this fine care of my self?"
Schwitzer offers the most inspiring selection of bed, table, bath and dressing (night wear) linens you have ever imagined. This is where I go in the city to buy really beautiful (not trashy) night gowns that, while expensive, last forever (with care).
Here is a link: http://www.schweitzerlinen.com/
