If you’re a photographer you’ll love this store. They have the widest selection of photography equipment to suit your needs. From your typical 35mm film to large format mediums you’ll find it here. They have the basic items to setup your new darkroom to the most technological advanced digital systems. It’s a great place to fill your needs. They also sell audio equipment and a lot of digital imagining stuff. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Their prices are the cheapest around. The lines are short and the store is huge. Make sure you hit it on the weekdays as its less crowded and remember that its closed on Saturdays.

NY's retail camera market is intensely competitive and, frankly, sleazy. BandH remains an exception. The only caveat is to come knowing what you want before you get there.

First off, the prices are great. You can get anything you want in photography from cameras to photo printing at excellent prices. But what a weird set up. You wait on three lines before you can purchase your item. The place is huge and the staff is large but pushy. I cannot recommend this place based on the salesmen and the vast crowds but if you are in the neighborhood, stopby and see if it is your cup of tea.

Fronting an entire block on ninth avenue between 33rd and 34th street this is photographer's heaven. Digi or film, new or used you'll find everything you could possibly need to be the photographer you know you can be. The staff is helpful if distracted and the system is convoluted and confusing - in order to purchase anything you must have a sales person print out a receipt, then go to a cashier to pay, then pick it up at a third station but the prices are the best in town and somehow the system works. That explains the line of people waiting for the place to open. Be aware that B&H observes all Jewish holy days and is closed from midday Friday through Saturday and opens on Sunday.

B and H Photo Video is perhaps one of the largest camera shops in the world. They also have a huge online website (bhphoto.com) where you can purchase pratically any piece of photo or camera equipment your heart can desire. I routinely buy film from B and H Photo. I've also purchased several digital cameras from B and H. Their staff is friendly, courteous and professional. I've asked several questions about cameras, or what emulsifier to use for my film developing, and I've always gotten my question answered. The store is located on 9th Ave in New York City. One interesting fact about this store--it's run by an orthodox Jewish family so the store closes on the Sabbath (every saturday) and on Jewish holidays like passover.

If you want anything dealing with photography, I'd definitely visit this place. They have everything you could possibly ask for and more. The selection is incredible. I was looking for a specific type of film, and voila, they had fresh packages of it. They also have a wide selection of the latest cameras. The 1 hour film developing is very reliable, and they usually keep their word on developing it in an hour. I'd definitely add this place to your places to shop. The prices are so-so, and you might find a better deal somewhere else, but not by much. The film rail that carries the film to developing is mesmerizing. The staff is also very helpful and friendly too.

This store occupies one large floorspace, with sorts of electronics equipment. The prices are comparable to most stores around the area, but this one seems to be a larger more professional shop than those fly-by-night hole in the wall stores in Times Square. The electronics here are more high end than most -- the electronic music section is very good, and the camera section has all sorts of stuff. And if it's not on the floor it can probably be found in their warehouse (huge catalog they have also).

This is the premier electronics store in the city. They are especially well known because of their extensive selection of cameras. All of the salestaff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The prices here are better than just about everywhere else and they offer very good extended warranty plans. They aren't open on saturdays b/ of the sabbath
