If you are looking for delicious tapas, Pipa is the place to go. I orgered about 9 different plates with my aunt and not one was a dissapointent. We wished the plates kept coming and coming but our waistbands were tight and of course with tapas, like sushi - you order a bunch of things and then it ads up at the end.
It's a bit loud, service was slow but it was totally worth it i would 100% go back!
Pros: variety, atmosphere, sangria
Cons: small plates add up to one big bill

What can I say? Great ambiance, food and service! A friend and I sat outside for a drink prior to a commitment later in the evening. The weather was perfect and the drinks were delicious. Went to Russian Tea Room for my first wedding anniversary. Amazing food. The brunch menu is amazing. I highly recommend the salmon "blinchiki" and the Kobe Burger. The waiter was always at our service and got us whatever we wanted. The tea service is obviously the star of the show. The waiter explained all of the different teas and helped us make a selection. We were full so we didn't order a dessert. The tea comes with cookies which were very good. The waiter then brought over some special cookies as something from him for our anniversary. Afterwards the manager even took the time to show us the amazing second floor dining room. Which is like a scene out of old world Russia. Great service will definitely return for the caviar.
Pros: Unique menu with amazing choices

My boyfriend and I had a belated Valentine's Day dinner in the Upstairs friday night. The experience was phenomenal. Generally speaking, he is not all that into fine dining but he loved it! We had lump crab meat and black bass which were to die for and the wine was absolutely delicious. The star of the show is the captain Christopher. You could tell that he owned the room and made all of his guests feel as if they were at a friend's house rather than a fancy restaurant in midtown. We went the first time for a romantic spot, but we will go back for the incredible food and excellent service.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience

My party met in the cozy front of the restaurant near the bar where we had a few drinks and some yuca fries that were amazingly light in grease and heavy in taste. We moved to the dining area where we agreed upon a wine-paired tasting menu that included (alas, I did not partake of the wines?but I was told they were excellent and well matched):
Key West Shrimp and Sweet Plantain Pionono with Sofrito Sauce ? a twist on a dish that I am told normally has ground beef ? nonetheless the shrimp and plaintain were a great pair;
Farmer Greens, Heirloom Tomato Salad with Creamy Cilantro Dressing - light, fresh and crisp;
Peekytoe Crabmeat and Avocado Terrine with Key Lime Mayonnaise and Ara?itas ? the mayo was light and finished nicely with the lime;
Chilean Sea Bass, Corn Broth and Fingerling Potato Croquette Domestic Lamb Chops with Boniato Mash, Grilled Asparagus and Veal Demi ? I believe we were told the chops were from the Hudson valley region; they were succulent and perfectly done;
Slow Braised Boneless Wagyu Beef Short Ribs with Funche and Island Mojito ? I have to resort to cliche and say the beef melted in my mouth.
Flan, Coconut Tembleque, Oozy Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Sorbet and Dulce de Leche Foam, and Warm Coconut Rice Pudding Tamal with Cajeta Sauce ? all too delicious to describe, with dessert wine.
The waitstaiff were experienced, attentive and unobtrusive. The waitress servimg the wine was knowledgeable and explained each pairing, then waited for our reactions, opinions and questions. The chef also came out to narrate each dish with story from her youth in Puerto Rico (?this is how my grandmother taught me to make this?? or ?this is how my Sicilian neighbors made this dish??).
I had no prior experience to this kind of food before. I did not have the expectations that the two reviwers below had, and therefore I may not have been prevented from enjoying myself.
I heartily recommend this place.
Pros: Food, staff, location, menu varied.
Cons: none.
