This hardware store has a great selection of the staples but also some unusual but useful items, like cut to size mats with Indian rug designs and a wide selection of water filters. The staff was not very helpful however when I needed to have keys made. I tried to make replicas of Medeco keys, which I understand can be hard to duplicate. Only one of the six keys that I made worked and they were all made in the same color. The staff did refund my money but had no suggestions on why their machine didn't work.

I'm amazed that Rainbow is in the neighborhood because the have such good prices. There is a large selection of everything from housewares to hardware stuff (in the basement) to cosmetics and stationary to dishes. It's fun to see the things they have on display for clearance. You can really get anything there. It's the place I like to go most to get anything I need for the home.

If there are just a few little 'do it yourself' tools that you need to pick up and don't want to wait until you are near a Home Depot - it's good to know there is a local hardware store in midtown manhattan. It's a bit pricier than home depot, but the convenience is well worth it. Try to avoid lunch hour and right after work at 5pm to miss the crowds and have to wait for tired service. If you can go mid morning you will get the best attention

Despite the cheap prices, the quality at this clothing is suprisingly NOT poor. In fact, the blouses or pants you may find there can survive more than one use. (Slight exaggeration - only kidding.) There are plenty of bargain finds for $10 there. Lots of dressy clothing and casual items. This is just another example of discovering good bargains without having to pay New York-skyscraper prices. Give it a try, won't leave a dent in your pocket if you're satisfied.

Abigail’s will surprise you. It is right next door to a bakery, and the small menu is posted outdoors, but walk in side and you will get two menus: one that’s Pan Asian, including a nice sushi selection, and another that’s more typical bistro-dining fare. The regular food was good, but the sushi was terrific!!! California rolls were served on their sides, avocado slice on top, fish roe sprinkled over that, and a sauce drizzled on them. Definitely different, but oh so good! Expensive.

One of the new Home Depots in Manhattan, particularly geared for Manhattan living. If you are looking for lumber, huge pallets, you will have to go to Long Island or NJ or at least Queens. Here, most things are made to order for delivery later. This is a huge sprawling basement store that is sometimes difficult to find your way around - there are sections for carpets, major appliances, paint, lighting etc. and few signs. Most salespeople are very helpful. Checkout is a nightmare with self serve checkouts that always encounter a problem and require a salesperson to come and finish the transaction. Return policy is excellent, hold on to that receipt!

The name on the storefront is actually Feldmans IV Housewares. It's on a quiet corner on Madison and 87th, and when you go, it's like walking into someone's cluttered attic. It's completely surreal - walking into a store on Madison, and finding it perpetually full of clutter, with shelves full of various odds and ends.
If you have a specific need, I highly recommend asking for help finding it, you'll never navigate through the place, even though it's tiny! Somehow, the staff knows exactly where everything is, and are very helpful, which makes up for the messy environment. And, they do seem to have most housewares and hardware you might need, so don't be shy, just ask for it!
Not sure prices are the best, but they have a sale shelf in the back which is worth checking out if you have time to browse.

I used to use this car service a lot, but lately the cars have just not been showing up on time, or even within a few minutes. I order cars for my boss and he'll wait, then call me to tell me the car's not there, then I call Citywide to see where it is and they put me on hold for 5 minutes! The last two times I've ordered a car from them this has happened and he's just caught a yellow cab instead. Won't be calling them again.
