This grocery store is great for fresh foods. I go here when I want good cheese, bread, or pastries. They have a huge selection of cheeses and meats, and their sweets are delicious. The counter guys are always friendly and helpful. The fruits and vegetables look much healthier than most other larger chain food stores. However, if I need canned goods or frozen foods, I will go elsewhere because Zeytuna is slightly overpriced and does not have as large a selection of these items. Zeytuna also has a large assortment of olives and their homemade salads are also great.

Eveything I've tried-salads, sushi, sandwitches, salad bar- has been fresh and tasty. It has a good varied menu that changes slightly daily. I have been working in the neighborhood for about five years and have sampled most of the delis around. This is a keeper.

What is more New York than Zabars? They are the symbol of Sunday brunch in New York. They have every kind of cheese known to man, every kind of meat, bread, whatever you can think of - and it's all great. Located on the upper west side, it is a tourist location as well as a place that locals love.

Zabar's to me is a capsule of my childhood. Since I was a little girl, this has been the go-to spot for my family, who lived in New Jersey. And since moving into the city, I make my rare forays to the Upper West Side for this store, because it truly is something special.
I think the food is pretty good overall; the matzo balls hold a place of honor in any high holiday celebration in our family. If some people complain about the price, then they haven't gone to Eli's or Dean and Deluca's - those places are just exorbitant. The prices for the overall quality I think are justified. It's a happy medium between standard supermarket fare and snootier-than-thou 'gourmet', where the costs seems to support the overhead and not the product. Here at Zabar's, you're spoiled for choice by the array of cheeses, fish, meats, and prepared foods here. Whether your tastes run to the mundane or truly eclectic, you. will. find. something here. No question.
Yes, it's cramped and noisy and commotional, but that's the fun of shopping here. Here, getting elbowed aside by a little old lady in a proper hat and gloves just seems funnier than it does at Whole Foods. I've had my cheeks pinched by the fish manager when ordering their world-famous smoked salmon and had an unofficial advisory board at the deli counter on whether I should get the brisket or the pastrami. Zabar's necessitates interacting with your fellow New Yorkers and whether it's positive or negative, it's always an authentic New York experience.

I love wine but I don’t exactly know that much about it. Fortunately, this wine store has employees which are very knowledgeable and have yet to steer me wrong. I go in often and I never feel guilty for it because they always welcome me. Usually I’m in the mood for a very light red wine that isn’t too expensive. They have recommended some great wines in my price range (which is quite low).

Winfield-Flynn has been established for fifty years now and has over two thousand different wines. Wines from Spain to New Zealand...you can have a sample of the wine tasting event every Thursday. Gift cards, wrapping, delivery, and custom label wines are also available upon request. You can't get this in many liquor stores. This is what's great about New York.

Formerly known as Healthy Pleasures, this market has seen better days. Lately it seems they don't stock as much variety, and the cleanliness has been lacking. They do have some bright points such as a fresh peanut butter maker, daily prepared foods, etc. On the whole there are better markets to purchase organic food items from in NYC, but if you're in a pinch this one will do.

I love Whole Foods and it makes the Columbus Circle area so much fun. Whole Foods has an amazing selection of produce and meats and packages yummy things - but perhaps the most fun is the prepared foods. There are two huge salad bars with hot and cold salad items including everything from baby spinach to frisee to artichokes to couscous to different kinds of tofu. There is an Indian section of hot food - and the deli counter is amazing - there are sandwiches of all kinds. Ooo! and yummy pizza too! There's a coffee section, a wall of olives - mmm! It's so fun. Sitting, however is a challenge, because it gets really crowded.

This is my preferred Whole Foods, largely because the store is all on one level, making both intentional shopping and random browsing much, much easier. It also doesn't have near the traffic jams and lines that I've encountered both at the Union Square and Columbus Circle incarnations. For those of you unfamiliar with Whole Foods, it's often referred to as "whole paycheck" as it's easy to spend a lot of money there very quickly. That said, most of the store brand products are excellent and bargains besides, and with the pricier items -- the quality is great and you couldn't find it anywhere else (i.e., cheddar horseradish spread). The meat and fish counters are especially good, and check out the "two-bite" deserts -- brownies, pecan pie and more.

I am distinctly underwhelmed by whole body. I can find vitamins cheaper across the street at Organic Market, and products here seem more about fancy packaging than health benefit. I'm sure the quality of everything is good, but it seems more about show than need. I love Whole Foods, but their Whole Body seems about the pretension of well-being as opposed to just well being.
