I had heard such great such great things about Thalassa, that I was so looking forward to my visit. We went a couple weeks ago before attending a show and we had the best time. We were seated right away and our waiter was very attentive and considerate to the fact that we had to get out of there on time. I ordered the scallop which was amazing, ordered a whole fish Lavraki (sea bass i think?!) melted in my mouth, had some delicious greek wine that they reccomended. The dining room is absolutely beautiful and it was one of the first warm nights we were getting in New York! Overall the service was great, the hostesses and waiters were all very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely come back a few times this summer and would love to try more of the menu...
Pros: amazing whole fish
Cons: Improve the music

For sure, one of the best Turkish restaurant in NYC!!! The atmosphere is fun and great for people-watching. The waiters are also super-friendly and informative, and most importantly, the food is DELICIOUS!! I'm Turkish, so I know what I'm talking about. Everything, from the many appetizers, to the main courses, to the desserts, and the full bar with Turkish wines was fantastic!! Can't wait to go back!
Pros: Location, service, FOOD
Cons: NONE!

being married to a guy from Athens, we have a high bar for good Greek food. Pylos is the only place we consistently recommend- and dine - when it comes to this category. In fact it is few and far between we have friends come in from out of town that we don't take them here! Pylos does a great job of having our favorite taverna dishes and others that take an interesting play on traditional ingredients. after years of going here it's now become hard to get a table - even speaking greek - so call ahead! it's worth it
Pros: FOOD, staff, atmosphere
Cons: can sometimes be tough to get a table

I have been meaning to write this and am finally doing so! We ordered every recommendation from out server--from the lush red wine through the homemade pastry of baklavah, and it was delicious. This is rustic greek cooking in a very casual but cool setting. We ate every drop of the Greek salads, the cheese triangle, and the tzatzikik w/the delicious homemade pita...mmmm. To satisfy the vegetarian in our group, we ate the cheese pie next, and it did not disappoint. Going back for more!!
Pros: The fooooood, service, reasonable prices!
Cons: Small place, go at off hours

I've been to Snack Taverna countless times for lunch and a couple times for dinner and have consistently had wonderful food, including well-spiced, well-cooked lamb dishes and sandwiches. Am most impressed by how fresh everything seems; good ingredients make a huge difference for me. I especially recommend the beet and watercress salad. Lunch is probably more reasonable than dinner, but I think the portions are ample and I've never left hungry (but maybe that's because I'm addicted to their amazing rice pudding). I make a point of bringing out of town friends here for a guaranteed delicious, healthy, and not-too-pricey meal.
And I've always found the service to be fine; sometimes very friendly, often neutral, but no bad attitudes have ever ruined a meal.
Pros: Fresh ingredients, delicious food, great rice pudding.
Cons: Can get crowded. More value for lunch than dinner.

After moving from downtown to the UWS, we find ourselves cooking often out of sheer desperation - we simply cannot find good food up here! Enter Nikos (the angels sing). Although it looks sort of dinerish/dumpy, the food is simply amazing. I have taken family and friends and all rave it is the best greek/medit food they've ever had. The portions are huge, and the prices (for what you get), are right. Best things on the menu to get: claypot lamb stew (either on bone or off), kebob, rotisserie fish, spinach pies, crab cake, houtsiki salad, bougatsa desert. All are to die for. Really, this is without a doubt the best food on the UWS. GO!!
Pros: Great Sangria, Rotisserie Fish, Lamb Stews
Cons: Decor a little dacky

My father took me here with my family and we had a blast. Despite there being a line, we only waited a few minutes to be seated by a window :-) away from the crying baby on the other side of the restaurant. I kind of felt bad for the people behind us though who actually were seated next to crying baby. I do not think their review will be too bad though, the baby was removed after it regurgitated it's apple sauce just 5 minutes after they were seated. Anyway, our low priced breakfast came warm and just as ordered. We tipped very well and will certainly be back again. In fact, just that next week, my girlfriend and I enjoyed a quiet breakfast again by the window where the crying baby was the week before. Lucky for us, that family left the baby at home.
Pros: great food, service, and atmosphere
Cons: crying babies
