I recommend getting a frequent shopper card (you get 5% back in gift certificates) and to load up on goodies at sale time.
Skip the personalized stuff--you can do better elsewhere.

This store is amazing; it has every type of paper you could imagine and all the art supplies necessary to make your own invitations, cards, scrapbook, etc. They also have cute stuff from Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, and other brand names. Their hand-made cards are so interesting and adorable. This is the store for anyone looking for nice stationary, great photo albums, or cute invitations; However, be warned that Kate's Paperie runs a bit on the expensive side.

it's like a candy store. the paper there is exquisite. they have so many different kinds of papers for invatations, cards, and etc. the paper is so pretty that i would probably buy it but not write on it. i love this store. i could spend hours just looking around. they also have really pretty boxes, picture frames, and pens. the stuff in this store however are really expensive. however, the quality of the stuff in the store is so great, that it certainly is worth the price.

This is a beautiful store, even for someone not interested in stationery. They have a truly interesting and unusual selection of papers, gifts, cards, statoinery, etc. Their stationery makes great gift, but they also have interesting gift type items as well - small boxes, pens, things that are great to buy for people you don't know well (or for the person who has everything). Their staff seems to be friendly and very well versed in the inventory. I know there is at least one other branch, in Soho, but this review specifically pertains to their upper east side branch on 3rd Avenue

or for a special someone.
I usually visit the one in Grand central station and I am always amused at the clever cards, highly decorated stationary and pretty matching ribbon and wrapping paper. It offers all types of paper: texture and sizes.
It is pricey...but sometimes its worth paying for.
Nicely organized sections and you can usually find something to express what you are trying to say. They also have cute little books and bookmarks that make great quicky gifts when you just didn't have the time.
I usually go there for the vellum and foil wrapping paper.

In this spacious store, which has recently expanded, you will find beautiful and high quality stationery, wrapping and tissue papers that you can purchase by the sheet. They also carry unique albums and desk accessories as well as a nice selection of children's accessories like interesting paper punches. Quite expensive but lovely to browse in and maybe pick up something special.

The first time I walked in to Kate's Paperie I was in awe. The store is beautifully designed full of assortments of papers, diaries, office supplies, rubber stamps, and much much more. They have paper in a variety of colors and materials. They have a huge selection of hand-made paper and decorative paper.
The only down side of Kate's is of course the price. It can get very expensive quickly at this store. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. All the employees always seem so happy in that store.

When you first walk into Kate’s Paperie you are immediately struck by the beautiful, elegant, and classy products displayed everywhere. On the wall to your left are sheets and sheets of gorgeous handmade papers. On the shelves to your right are hand bound books, diaries, office supplies and more. As you walk through the store you discover more and more. Stationary by the sheet in gorgeous colors! A small, but funky collection of rubber stamps! This place is a paper crafters dream.
The sheets of paper are my favorite. You say you’d like hand-screened paper from India? They’ve got it, in four colors! Handmade paper with rose petal inclusions? They’ve got that too. From floor to ceiling, sheets of paper are gorgeously displayed.
It’s also a great place to buy upscale gifts. They have a nice selection of fountain pens, great little address books and diaries, and other paper items. They gift-wrap as well, and do a beautiful job.
Kate’s can be on the pricey side, but is worth every penny! The staff is knowledgeable about everything paper, and can help you pick out the perfect gift. I love this store, and it was always one of my favorite places to shop when I lived in New York. If you love paper, check this shop out.
