I studied dance here for many years in their old facility (which had a charm the new one can't equal, but the new one is much, much better). The training is excellent and thorough, but not well-suited to other dance styles. Those pursuing other dance work should even be careful about studying here -- Graham work is difficult on the body in extremely specific ways. That said, it's fantastic for developing theatrical expression (especially darker, more dramatic elements), and for strengthening your core and arms. Graham's work has periodically risked dying out since her death because of schisms within the company and the rather historical nature of how (and what type of) meaning is conveyed through her dance. But it's a critical piece of dance and modern American cultural history.
