BIGGEST DUMP EVER! This place is so gross. The aestheticians are terrible and rude- pushing products down your throat. Someone stole my underwear from my locker while I was having a facial- there are no locks on the lockers. This place is so dirt and the people working there are RUDE RUDE RUDE! The lady giving my facial was texting on her cell the whole time- her hands were rough and hurt like sand-paper on my face. It is so gross in there- not sure how this place has not been closed down by the sanitation board.. STAY AWAY

Absolutely Gross. Unsanitary, Rude Staff, Over-Priced. They push products down your throat, my aesthetician was texting on her cell phone throughout my facial, they overcharged my credit-card, it was the worst spa experience I have EVER had. To top it off- I saw a dead cockroach in the changing-room. AVOID THIS DUMP!

I think, but am not 100% certain, that she has Red Door spas in major cities across the country. I think a half-day package is only about $200 dollars, which for the quality of treatment you are getting, is very good. We have two in New York and they are very reputable for being fabulous and relaxing. Your best bet is probably to look for one in the Seattle area. She'll love it, I'm sure.

Not only are the facials fantastic, the wax they use is the closest to painless I have ever experienced. I still take an Advil before going in for a wax, but this stuff works wonders with a limited amount of cringing.
Spoil yourself - spend a day or a half day at Red Door and get the works done. Just make sure you scheduled WAY in advance if you are planning to have more than one or two services -- it can be hard to book.

i've tried them for a number of services -- pedicure (to die for), styling (excellent), facials (the best of the best), and massage (supreme relaxation).
the prices are high, but it's worth it to splurge on a half day package.

The Scene
Once shrugged off as a slightly musty grande dame, this famed salon's recent makeover has her looking younger--and hipper--than ever, while leaving the core of luxury intact. The spa is as much about pampering as end results--see the quiet, candle-lit spaces, wonderfully fluffy robes and hushed voices. The clients range from Upper East Side dowagers to NYU students, with a fair amount toting gift certificates.
The Services
Treatments run the gamut from skincare, waxing and body treatments to hair styling, makeup application and popular mani/pedis. Unique offerings include the "Pomegranate Warm Stone," "Ardena Four Layer" and "Double Oxygen" facials; customized hydrotherapy tub sessions coupled with massage; and luxurious "Desert Stone," "Olive Oil" and "CitraSpa" pedicures. The hair salon employs talented stylists and colorists whose work is often seen in fashion magazines.
I consistenly visit the Red Door spa for fantatic eyebrow waxing. The waiting areas are often crowded and their systems are often down. I have recognized that this venue tends to be a "tourist" find.....takes something away for the locals!

If you're accustomed to luxury at high-end prices, then the famed Red Door is for you. The salon is an oasis in midtown that offers weary New Yorkers an opportunity to unwind. This spa has great services (I would recommend the bikini wax - superb) and kind, attentive service. You feel great until the bill arrives. But this is NY and so go ahead and splurge. Live a little. When you're done, go shopping. The salon is just a few doors down from Saks, Bendel's, Bergdorf's and Barney's.

From the experience of the doorman greeting you and opening up the red door into a luxurious experience, just be open to everything and you will leave well refreshed. They offer just about every time of beauty service and consultation, and of course have a huge array of products for you to purchase on your way out. Hint to your significant other that this would be a great gift, and try to enjoy this on a gift certificate so you can spend your money on some great products which will bring back the memories when you are home
