Went there there on a thursday with friends and was amazed at how beautiful the room was. The place was packed but it really does feel like a secret in grand central.
The hostess's were lovely and professional and after a drink at the bar we were seated near the front of the room. The only problem was are server who was wearing a suit instead of a cocktail dress like everyone else. she was very cold and abrubt and wouldn't smile at all. but who knows everyone has a bad day right? that aside I am looking forward to coming back for another drink. (and hopefully another waitress)
Pros: lovely ambiance, great drinks
Cons: Pricey, bad waitress

Although the space is great and very convenient, the hideous door staff are a real turn off - to the extent that I have stopped coming here and have steered my friends away. I have seen these gum chewing trogoldytes give perfectly acceptable trying-hard tourists the rudest up-and-down. Even if the place is misguidedly trying to create some kind of club vibe (ridiculous given the location and demographic), no responsible and/or decent owner would allow doorpeople to behave like that. I even saw a too-cool-for-midtown woman with a broken foot get turned away because she was wearing... ONE SNEAKER on her broken foot.
Can the owner of this beautiful bar please deal with the door issue!
Pros: Lovely space
Cons: Trashy staff

The Campbell Apartment is the PERFECT, most UNIQUE, ROMANTIC space in midtown and the entire city. I came the other night with my husband and the sweet hostess explained they were finishing up with a private event and would be opening shortly and if we liked we could start with a glass of wine at the Parlor bar and move inside once the bar was clean. She held a table for us and came and got us right away when the bar was setup. We had a comfy seat in front of the fireplace with a great view of the room. I definitely reccommend their new Apisco Sour cocktail. I've never had anything like it before. Working in the hospitality business myself, I really appreciated the staff's ATTENTION to us while they were very busy. We loved the Campbell Apartment and will definitely be back soon
Pros: Ambience, Specialty drinks and ingredients, Service
Cons: Call ahead and double check if there is a private party

I appreciate a place with good service but this place has the RUDEST and the most OBNOXIOUS hostesses you'll ever come across. I was appalled the moment I stepped foot in this place which I was looking forward to checking out with some friends. My advice to you all...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Don't waste your time. Spread the word. And my advice to the Management...hire staff with better manners! Btw, if I could rate this place below 1 star...I would! Bottom line...NOT RECOMMENDED.

I have lived in Manhattan for 12 years and have NEVER been treated as rudely at any establishment as I was at Campbell Apartment -- which, until this incident, I used to like. I was meeting friends at Campbell and arrived there first. I walked in and went to one of the seats toward the back and sat down. The server very clearly saw me and proceeded to deliberately ignore me, going to the groups on either side of me. (I am a polished, attractive professional, so nothing in my appearance or demeanor should have caused such rudeness.) As my friends were about 20 minutes late, she passed and ignored me multiple times - I would try to signal or call out, and she'd look right through me or pretend she hadn't heard. When my friends arrived, they came over and sat down -- but not without attracting the attention of the hostess, who made a beeline to our table and proceeded to tell one of my friends, who was pregnant, that she was not allowed in the bar because she was wearing sneakers (though she had on business attire otherwise). We were in the back corner and my friend promised she would keep her feet hidden under the table. No matter - the woman insisted that we leave and wouldn't move until we did. I then noted the rudeness of the server who had ignored me for 20 minutes, and the hostess said, in an extremely snotty tone, "That's because we didn't seat you." Angered, I took my friends across the street to the Yale Club and have since then boycotted Campbell and have convinced others to do the same.

My wife was meeting up with my friends and I for an afterwork drink. We were already there having our drinks and some food. When my wife got to the door she was greeted by a very rude, very snooty hostess named Lisa who flat out refused to let her in,... even to inform us she couldn't get in!!!! That's right, no offer to kindly wait while she informed us of the tragic dress code infraction and that my wife was waiting at the entrance, nothing,.. except a whole lot of unnecessary attitude,.. thanks Lisa.
Give this place a pass.

We've been to the The Campbell Apartment many times in the past, and last night we were meeting friends already at the bar. The maitre'd/host/ bouncer, big rude guy, stopped us in our tracks and would not let us in because of my serious fashion error. How was I dressed? Jeans? t-shirt? sandals? No none of those...
I was wearing a black suit and crisp white open shirt. On my feet, I was wearing black Vans (a flat canvass rubber sole shoe ). The maitre'd/host was not going to have any discussion at all, he was actually quite snooty about it. So we all were forced to leave....and what good fortune that across the hallway, is Chipriani's where we were quickly seated and could actually carry on a conversation without yelling which we'd have to do at The Campbell Apartment, a very over rated, loud, expensive and unfriendly establishment..
