As always, Coffee Shop is a terrific place for a mid-day burger and beer (or Screwdriver, in my case). I was in with my brother the other day, my first time in about five or six weeks. On a pretty busy Saturday afternoon, we bellied up to the bar and were greeted by the bartender Jo, who, surprisingly, was the sweetest and prettiest of the staff! This place is known for it's bitchy but gorgeous model wait staff, but Jo defied the former and nailed the latter. Jo was on it: she read our minds, asking if we needed a refill, napkins, or anything else, even before we knew we needed it. And she did it all with the nicest smile in the place. To top if off, the medium-well mozzarella burger and my brother's fries (I got a salad like an idiot this time) came out in a flash, as tasty as the first time I tried it all ten years ago. I'll go back again soon, and, when I do, I don't know if I'll get a table again. Thanks, Jo!
Pros: Best burger and bartender (the pretty Jo) in NYC!
Cons: Usually packed with annoying tourists

Nothing better than stopping here on a cold winter day for a bowl of the richest hot chocolate I have ever tasted. Whipped cream not even necessary because just a little milk into the choco is an unbelievable treat. The baked goods are good too but just make sure you get the hot chocolate.

'A little house' as the last stop of Manhattan's dining venue. It'll turn gracious for your first date, business convention, friendly neighbor's birthday, or just dropping by for a bite at the end of the day.
Chef Yamasaki so exquisitely embodies the inherent storminess of all valuable things: an ingredient, a season, a culture, and wonder. And it is so tender, so impecable, and so Yummy!
Occupy the dubious, Obey the venturous..
and oh yes, i love to lunch there as well.
Pros: Chef Yamasaki's Omakase
Cons: none

I have a friend in the upper west side that always raves about this restaurant, so the other day I decided to take my girlfriend on a date there. What a gem this place is! Between the decor, the hospitality, and the ambiance I really felt like I was back in Italy. Our waiter was outstandingly courteous and he made my girlfriend and I feel like royalty. The Fettucine Bolognese tasted incredible (like my grandma's)!! I would definitely recommend this place to someone that wants to go eat at a "real italian" restaurant, and not spend so much either. I will return soon!!

Cute small tucked away coffee with atmospheric city photos. But the best Granita in town! None of that fake dunkin donuts/coolata or premade stuff around town in bakeries. Individually and lovingly make with strong java! Quaint hang out bench by the shaded foliage in the front as well.

My girlfriend and I absolutely LOVE Harry's. We're residents of the financial district and there isn't much choice of restaurant in the weekends as most of the places are catered towards workday lunches but there is one standout on those hungry for brunch weekends. That place is Harry's! Great food, UNLIMITED champagne and very courteous service make this place #1 go to spot for us. Highly recommended. Stop by for brunch, enjoy a quiet nice atmosphere and you will not be disappointed.
Pros: Food, decor, UNLIMITED DRINKS
Cons: Pricey

This Starbucks is friendly, offers some space for the sightseer to sit, relax, have some coffee and get some downtime while running around in the Gramercy Park Area.
Staff is helpful and coffee is up to the usual Starbucks standards. Tables and floor is clean, bathroom is ample and clean as well.
A great place to stop, get your bearings and refresh near Gramercy Park.

In defence of the staff at think! okay so you get the odd sullen barista but generally I love this place and teh people who work there. I go nearly everyday as do most of the NYU law students who live in the law dorm one minute away. The coffee is great, I live on their soup and sandwiches(even if they're a little expensive) and the hot paninis after 7pm are great too (especially the chicken one). The cakes are so-so maybe, but the cookies are yum. The music is good, only downpoint is that its often hard to find a seat. But seriously, I don't know what I'd do if think didn't exist.
Pros: great coffee, nice atmosphere
Cons: can be crowded, and sometimes a long wait for coffee

Starbucks is everywhere. If you stand at certain intersections in the city (cough cough Astor Place!), you are within view of 3 different Starbucks! Starbucks is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, eat a sandwich, catch up with friends or colleagues, study, use wireless internet, read the newspaper, or simply just relax. A decade ago, few of us could imagine paying upwards of $3 for a cup of coffee, but nowadays, for many of us, a cup of Starbucks has become a necessity in order to start the day right.
