Renovated a few years ago, Webster Branch is wheelchair accessible. Children's Room is on the first floor so sometimes you do have to negotiate through the strollers in the lobby. There is an elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor where there are adult books, DVDs & talking books. Computers on both floors though 1st floor are only for kids, of course. Currently, you can sign up for beginner computer classes. Computers are almost always in use - sign up with librarian. This is a multiple use library with something for all. Library staff are helpful and cordial. You can also renew or reserve books online and you can even get a library card that you can carry on your keyring! Basement houses Webster Book Shop that sells used books for cheap!

More
In a City inundated with noise and chaos, Village Zendo is a respite from the storm. Village Zendo, is a community of people who come together to practice in the Soto Zen tradition, to do zazen, come together in chanting services, retreats, workshops and study groups. Participation is open to all. All practitioners and students of various traditions are welcomed to join at whatever level of commitment they wish. The community practices in the White Plum Lineage of Taizan Maezumi Roshi, and are affiliated with the Zen Peacemaker Family and The Buddhist Peace Fellowship. Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara is the Abbot of Dotoku-ji, the Resident Teacher and Head Priest. There is a morning, mid-day and evening za-zen practice and a Sunday morning program. There is also instruction class for beginners on Monday evenings. There is a dharma talk given by Roshi or a senior student on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. This is a wonderful place to find your center and learn about the Zen tradition of meditation.

More
In it's heyday, the Village Voice had liberal political clout and was a must read for anyone seeking intellectual cred or classifieds listing men and women seeking men or women. Personals have moved on to the web and been replaced in the back of the book by display ads picturing nearly naked men and women offering themselves for a variety of purposes. The Voice is now free, available each Wednesday evening all over Manhattan and while it's clout is questionable, it's listings are comprehensive, its articles are stimulating, it's critics are articulate and, hey, it's free.

I donated my car to this Charity that helps disadvantaged kids succeed. The car was picked up right from my house and was tax deductible. I felt good about this.

More
Union is an open, liberal seminary in a sea of right-wing, reactionary Christians. At Union, a large percentage of the student body are openly gay and lesbian and some faculty are also out. The Seminary is committed to teaching Christianity in a safe environment as a welcoming and expansive religion. Union has always embodied the freedom to learn and the freedom to teach—ideals that may be more critical than ever to churches and society at this moment in history. Founded in 1836, Union forged a new vision for theological education: to center ministerial training in an urban context so that academic excellence and personal faith might respond to the needs of the city. As an independent school of theology, Union's mission is to educate men and women for ministries of the Christian faith, service in contemporary society, and study of the great issues of our time.
This is a great place to learn about a religion that has become defiled by its most narrow-minded practitioners to the point that it barely resembles its true roots. Union;s faculty attempt to restore the balance in this country by producing graduates who are thoughtful, open-minded, humble and devoted to serving the world in justice and compassion.

Founded in 1697, Trinity Church is an Episcopal parish located on Broadway, at Wall Street.
It is absolutely gorgeous inside. There is an enormous and energetic choir. Each Sunday, after mass, you get to pass through the back of the church, on a footbridge over Trinity Place, for coffee and breakfast. It is very special and unique the way the members of this parish get to know one another.
