Not as good as in the past 7/24/2009

This store used to be better. Now prices are quite high, a used T shirt for $7.99, old fashioned very used shoes $14.99. It is impossible to get a good deal, it is better to go to Macy's and look for all reductions. The staff is not much friendly, especially not young cashiers, hardly answer any questions and the word "thank you" will not hear here. Only the staff who places the items on the racks seem to me to work very hard. Also a blind gentleman who stand at the door is very cheerful. I see excellent marchandise coming into this store but never put on the shelves. The 50% off the price does not exist since some years ago. There are much better thrift stores in the area (Upper East Side) with much higher quality merchandise, better prices, friendlier staff. The management perhaps should place the names of the etire's staff on the visible place, maybe this would increase their accountability and responsiveness. I live close to the store for 20 years so I believe that my observations can be unbiased. TC (can identify if necessary) more

Great Thrift Store 9/8/2005

This large low-key well-lit thrift store near 88 Street on the Upper East Side has two floors. On the main floor, there is a a large selection of women's clothes at unbeatable prices. Look carefully through the racks, mostly arranged by color, You can find some from Gap, Banana Republic, Talbots, Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, etc. Different colored plastic tags indicate price. There is usually some color at 1/2 price for the day. On a recent trip, there were dresses for $10 - $12, tops for around $5 as well as shorts, suit jackets and pants. Men's and children's clothes, books and bric-a-brac are on the 2nd floor. There are also assorted shoes and handbags. As with all thrift stores, look at the garment carefully for pulls, stains, rips etc. Staff are helpful and cordial. Quite a bargain! more
