I invite anyone who hasn't been to the Big Apple to visit the city during November to January when the city is dressed up for the holidays. There are too many events to list in just one review but I promise if you visit, you won't be disappointed. New York comes alive at Christmas and you won't want to miss any of the fun. Walking is the best way to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the city as you can begin anywhere and proceed at your own pace. Stop along the way to ooh and aah the festive lights and decorations, shop windows, restaurants, street displays and of, course the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree at 47th Street (this year's tree lighting is November 29th at 7PM and marks the official start of the holiday season in NYC). My favorite events include the Holiday Fair in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station, attending a performance of The Nutcracker at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, shopping in the East Village, Soho and along Madison Avenue, watching the Radio City Rockettes, and viewing the spectacular department store windows at Lord & Taylor, Macy's, and Saks Fifth Avenue. www.nyctourist.com
