As you can tell by the name, Nook is a cozy establishment. If you know this going in then I see nothing to complain about. There was a waitress that people thought was rude, but she has left. Food is fantastic. The mushroom cigars, the lamb, and the filet are absolutely delicious. BYO so you can enjoy your own drink of choice with no corkage fee. Regulars come back for a reason. Come hungry and with an open mind, and relax in a classy place. It's small so of course your table is valuable. Whether for a date, a party, or just for the good food, this is the place. I'm getting hungry just thinking of the food right now.
Pros: small = cozy, FOOD amazing, great people
Cons: Small, tiny bathroom in the kitchen, hard to get reservation

My wife and I have been eager to try this place ever since the new chef started. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back again soon. In addition to a great wine list that my wife enjoyed - the appetizers were so enticing that we barely had room left for our entrees. We had the potato-and-bone-marrow dauphines, the tempura-fried cornichons, along with the spare ribs. All of them were excellent and my wife had to talk me out of ordering another fried cornichons (fried small pickles) to save room for my burger, which I had heard was one of the best burger's in the city. In my opinion, it is the best burger - and I found it to be a fantastic symphony of flavors - that after one bite you will say, "wow - that is a great burger". The mix of the gruyere cheese, fried leeks are piled on top, along with the great seasoning made this meal one to remember - surpassing expectations. My wife's striped bass was flavorful and just as memorable and when combined atmosphere, provide a romantic yet chic vibe. We can't wait to go back!
Pros: Great Food!!

We were tourists, first time in NYC from Minneapolis. After wandering around the village for a few hours Sunday, we were looking for a place to eat our last night in New York. Our cabbie mentioned a place by "Small's Jazz Club" but we ended going in Cafe Condesa by accident, instead of the French restaurant that he mentioned. And boy was that ever a mistake that turned out positive. The atmosphere is comfy, cozy, hip, & friendly at the same time. The food was amazing. We sat at the stainless silver counter since the only table open was by the front door, and was a little chilly from people coming and going. My girlfriend and I started with the butternut squash soup, and ravioli appetizers, then we moved onto the steak filet and the scallops. The guy working the counter recommended a glass of wine that went perfectly with the steak. Everything was like a little mouthful of joy. :) We ended with the chocolate souffle and cappuccino's, and left comfortably full and content in the fact that this place was the perfect restaurant to end a vacation on. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in NYC. If I lived there, I'd be there at least once a month. Yes, it's that good. I hesitated even writing this because I don't want to have to stand in line for hours next time I go, as the secret about this hidden gem gets out...
Pros: Wonderful food, romantic, friendly staff, great coffee and wine.
Cons: Not really a con - but not for large groups, small children, or high maintenance diners. Limited beer list

Went this past Friday for dinner for my boyfriend's birthday as we had a memorable meal the last time we were there and had been looking forward to going back . Well the second time around was even better - the service was impeccable, food was delicious and the wine selection was awesome. Our waiter was also quite knowledgable about the wine and food pairings which led to a divine dining experience. We had a reservation for 9 but decided to go a little early and have a couple of cocktails at the bar. The place was very busy since it was Friday night, so when they told us that our table would be another 5 or 10 minutes after 9pm we understood - when they did seat us we were immediately brought a plate of appetizers as an apology for making us wait. The manager came by the table after we finished our entrees to see how everything wasand again apologize for our (brief) wait. I don't know about other reviews but as someone who used to be a restaurant manager, I found the service of the waiter, the hostess, the bartender and the manager all to be spot on & they were truly welcoming, gracious and knowledgable -like I went to eat at a good friend's House.
Pros: knowledgable bar & wait staff, beautiful setting, excellent customer service
Cons: The menu itself, although gorgeous, is hard to read in candlelight - silver background with small typeset.

I have been to Petrossian several times over the years and never have been disappointed at all. I went again last night and was pleasantly surprised to get a reservation on 30 minutes in advance and as usual the service was great and the food amazing. I am still surprised by how well priced this place is, many people will say it is expensive but all restaurants aside that are not known for their caviar, it is well priced. And if you want a nice lunch with amazing food but do not want to dress business casual, go to the boutique and cafe for an amazing lunch. Overall I love this place, it is always a good idea to do the prix-fixe as you will get a 3 course dinner for only $49 and only $12 if you would like the american sturgeon caviar appetizer.
It is an amazing place, you should try if for yourself!
Pros: Food and Service
Cons: Is there any?

We had a family birthday celebration at the Zipper Factory Tavern. Everyone had a good time. Prices were reasonable, portion sizes were plentiful, menu selection was diverse and the food was tasty. The waitstaff made sure my aunt had a good time since she's the reason we were there.
