I can't speak to the Carribean authenticity of Daphne's fare, but the jerk chicken and pork are the best I've had. I must also recommend the goat and oxtail. The veggie run-down is the real star -- I hadn't expected much, but it's an excellent plate of rice, beans, plantains and what tastes like a stewed cabbage salad: looks awful, tastes awesome. If the food turned south, I'd keep coming to Daphne's for two reasons: 1. The best scotch bonnet hot sauce I've ever had (spicy as anything, but with a nice sweet flavor) and 2. amazing home-made juice drinks and sodas. The ginger beer is the champ here, but you ought to try them all.
Pros: Inexpensive, Great home made soda, Good hot sauce

Ok, this place has the best southern and caribbean food EVER. Two or three weeks ago, I was written up in the NY Daily News Sunday Section of the top meals under $10. It was ranked number 10. I have to try the first 9 because the food is the excellent. The mac and cheese and yams are as good as anywhere in the south. The curried chicken and jerk chicken is so flavorful, my tongue was wagging when I left. It is a very nice well lit place with a flat screen TV. It has great colors.
A must eat place. I have seen plenty of NYs famous in there over the years. Try it!

My boyfriend took me to dinner here. It was pretty crowded when we got there but we managed to get a table in the back. The waitress was great and suggested a few appetizers. The croquetas filled with ham and cheese were so good! They has a sweet mapple syrup dipping sauce - sweet and salty. Yumm!!
We shared the ceviche, gilled octopus with sweet potato and sausage, and fish tacos.
I had a naked margarita and my bf had a Michelada, which is beer, hot sauce, salt and lime. I've never heard of it before but I loved it!
Pros: music and food

So you wanna dine on some amazing Cuban-n-Caribbean food with some scuba-diving librarian? I know! Who doesnt. The problem? The shush! police dont allow you to eat or drink in a library, let alone cook up some good ol rice-n-beans. What to do, what to do? Heres your eureka, dude: Bring her to Margon. Food is awesome. Ive got the research to prove it. Yeah! I heard even Jupiter and Yankelovich ran taste tests. The verdict? Delicioso. Margons go the best damn Cuban food this side of Guantanamo. Trust me. You wont need a military tribunal to find Margon guilty as charged, of being sinfully yummy. So go out there, grab your favorite green-haired librarian, and drag her out to Margon. Nine out of ten librarians agree: A trip to Margon is, er, overdue.

Been coming here for ages. Great for dates or dinner with friends. Food is not too expensive, service is always solid. Good tequila selection! Cuban music is present, but you won't have any trouble hearing each other.

I walked by Casa Havana and saw the sign Paella $10.95 I could not believe it because every restaurant I have visited for paella goes for over $22.00 per person.I tried it and it was as good as some of the top restaurants that serve paella. As I looked around at least a third of the customers were eating paella.oh I forgot that with a glass of wine its $14.95 Great find in Chelsea.
Pros: more food and more food
Cons: too much food

We had a 10pm reservation here on a Saturday night. It was a good thing we had one, because the people that were coming in without one had an hour or more wait. The service was the best we experienced in NYC- by far. The food was also very good.
Pros: service,food
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I went to Havana NY with my husband for dinner this past tuesday and we had such a great time there, everybody was so inviting and nice. We sat at the bar and those Mojitos...Oh wowww those Mojitos are amazing, and the bartender was really lovely ! We had some appetizers and it was really good, fresh and tasty. We were there few years ago but the place has totally change,it's better everywhere you look.Better service, better atmosphere which make a real unforgettable experience. I totally recommend this restaurant that make you feel like home, a Cuban home. Definetely coming back!

The food was creative and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the Onion Potato Tart, different and delicious! My dinner party was treated well, the service was really good and the staff friendly. You do get just the right amount of food for the money...I will be going back!
Pros: located near other great restaurants in the area
Cons: since it is located on the UWS, parking is going to be tricky
