this isnt a bad place for chocolates. their selection is a bit on the skimpy side. they have some decent chocolates but not so much on the baked good sides. their hot chocolate mix is ok but ive had better. they muck around with the chocolates though - adding spices and garbage like that. bottom line is there are better chocolate shops out there. but if youre in the area and need a fix....

Great destination spot to fill any chocolate craving. A little pricey, so may be good to reserve for good gifting, unless a true chocoholic, then price is not object. I highly recommend ordering the iced hot chocolate, though hardly a bargain at $4.25, but it will surely satisfy your chocolate needs.

The Chocolate Bar is a really top notch shop that has been open for a few years now. They sell chocolates by master chocolatier Jacques Torres and make a mean cup of hot chocolate. Sometimes when it is crowded the service is a little slow but outside of that it's a good place. Right now they have a special box of Ramones chocolates to raise money to save punk club CBGB's.

Nice place in the West Village except when it's crowded which can be almost any time as it is quite small. The hot chocolate is first rate as is the "chocolate tea" The truffles are by Jacques Torres and are first rate. I once got a stale cookie but that wouldn't put me off of buying baked goods as the other cookies and brownies I've purchased were all pretty good.
