Before Gap and Levi's stores it used to be that kids bought their jeans in surplus stores. Dave's New York is a throw back selling surplus, jeans and industrial clothes. If Carharrt and Columbia brands with their long breakin period are for you then so is Dave's. Oh yeah, did I mention that they have a habit of discounting what they sell.

More
Tucked into the school zone between the New School and NYU, East Side Copy is one of several places to have copying done. They are not the cheapest option, but often they can do things faster than their competition, and they offer some harder to find products like different color vellums and transparencies. They also feature a small selection of cards and school supplies like folders. A good solid choice, though you may be able to find a better deal if you scout elsewhere.

If you're planning a trip overseas anytime soon, you should definitely check out this bookstore. (They're great for domestic, travel, too!)
You will find shelves of nothing but travel books for every country and city you plan to visit. If they don't have it on the shelf, I'm sure they will happily order you a copy.
They also have various travel supplies (chargers, plugs, money pouches, etc.)
Staff is very friendly, and it's a nice break from the big bookstores.

If you like rare-volume books, oversized historical maps and such this place is worth seeking out. There are books as early as the 16th century; history buffs will be in heaven, too. The knowledgeable staff is happy to dig out anything you ask for.
It' hard to say much about prices for these gems.

I entered this store looking for some hard cd's. I mean I looked EVERYWHERE for these cd's, and couldn't find them anywhere. I wasn't too confident in this store even though people say it's amazing. Believe me I went to so many stores, so you can feel my pain. I went up to a friendly customer service rep and they showed me to each cd I was looking for. Just for that they get 5 big stars.

Classic. Rare. Extraordinary. That's how Rebecca Moss describes its business. This "pen" store is so much more than writing instruments. This small jewelbox of a shop on Madison Avenue at 53rd Street has an exceptional line of merchandise.
Rebecca Moss carries a superior line of writing instruments that are not only functional but beautiful. Each of their pens, whether it's a fountain, roller ball or ballpoint is special in its own right.
As a fountain pen user I covet several of their limited edition pens, like Dante's Chianti or Millennium Fountain pens. Pricey, yes but keepsake items that last a lifetime. I'll save up for them, thank you.
Rebecca Moss has less pricey pens and they too are unusual but functional. My Chelsea pen never fails to get a reaction when I use it.
This is also a great place to buy stationery--fun, eclectic designs, one of a kind cards for all the people you know and holiday cards that are just plain fabulous.
Go there or shop on-line at www.rebeccamoss.com.

I like to make copies at Village Copier. It has a homey environment that makes copying more human. It has removed the Kinko's commercial glitz and has brought back the "dittos" we remember from the good old days. But seriously, the have good modern machines. They just put more personality into their practice, so it doesn't seem so much like business and it's more like family.

More
In this Staples store, you can make copies for a nickel each (bring change - otherwise you have to take the escalator/elevator to the 2nd floor and get in line for the cashier). Sometimes the machines are out of order but there are usually two machines that work -go early to avoid waits. Office supplies like phones, copiers, printer ink - the store brand is cheaper and just as good, etc. are upstairs. If you are buying something that is advertised on sale or comes with a freebie, make sure you bring the ad - sometimes the sale price has not been entered into the computer or staff does not know about special. Mostly, staff are friendly but they have one or two employees who are not helpful and bordering on rude.

More
I can't tell you about Organized Momentum as a customer. I don't own a small business, therefore I don't need help with bookkeeping, organization, reorganization or organizational upkeep. I can, however, tell you about it as the friend of one of their employees.
I can tell you that ever since she's started working there I never see her because she's working such long, hard hours, and when I do see her all I hear about is how invested she is in working with her clients to strengthen and grow their businesses (though of course without revealing an confidential information about the businesses). I can tell you that I've met several of her co-workers, and they are all as out-going, friendly, dedicated and possessed of a sense of humor as she is. I can tell you she keeps getting more clients and doesn't seem to lose any.
I'm sure that Organized Momentum can provide you with dozens of glowing references for their work, I'm giving you the behind the scenes look and there's no smoke and mirrors here, just good, dedicated work.
