I went to Canal Plastics all the way from Staten Island to go have something made in plexiglass. Not only were their employees very rude to me, the prices for getting something made was a bit outragous and even more so was the time it would have to take to get my project completed. A friend of mine who is a artist, recommended me to go to a place called fantasy plastics in park slope, brooklyn. The prices were better and my project was completed right away. the things they do with plexiglass at this place amazed me and gave me even more ideas! they are on 3rd ave. in brooklyn around union street. you cant miss this place!

This place is phenomenal if you need any types of plastic pieces - I use them as templates for sewing projects and have them cut pieces for me. They're usually able to cut everything within the hour. (Probably could do it faster, but since I work nearby, I never ask them to speed it up.) They have sheets of plastic in multiple colors and sizes. They also have vinyl - if you want to make your own shower curtain, or pockets on a beach bag, for example. They also sell glue so you can attach plastic pieces together (you need special glue, and an applicator that applies it perfectly.) I made a little shelf for my bathroom in this manner. They also sell small circle and square pieces of precut plastic. Definitely your one-stop for plastic!

Canal Plastics is a wonderland. I went there during art school to have some letters cut and found myself surrounded by all these amazing products. The store itself is a bit of a no-frills warehouse, but that seems appropriate. Staff are sometimes hard to track down for help, but that's because they're helping others. Generally, if you have any sort of plastic needs, Canal Plastics should be able to give you what you need. They have tons of small containers as well as aisles and aisles of different rolls of plastic sheeting (from holographic to metallic to colored transparencies). Truly amazing.
