When I pop down to Manhattan to see a show, I'm usually crunched for time. Still, we all need to eat, and I'm not always looking to grab a quick slice of pizza or a coffee and dessert at Starbucks!
ESPN Zone exceeded my expectations the last two times I ate there. I was able to get a table quickly, my priority, and my husband was able to scan numerous wide screen plasma televisions to catch more sporting events than even he could have imagined, his priority.
This is a tourist spot, and it comes along with tourist prices, but the prices weren't so bad that I was turned off. That, plus the fact that the food was pretty decent for a restaurant catering to tourists in Times Square, left me happy. I usually become easily disenchanted with this part of Manhattan due to the fact that so many restaurants can pass off sub-par food with high prices to unsuspecting tourists (as evidenced by the presence of both the Olive Garden and Applebee's in that general area...who comes to NYC for chain restaurant food?!?).
This is a chain restaurant like many others, but has a classier atmosphere than your Planet Hollywoods and your Hard Rock Cafes. After having a portobello burger, fries and a glass of Merlot for under $25, I left happy to see my show.

ESPN Zone can get very expensive, very fast. But if you are an out of towner or a fan of a out of town team and want to catch the big game and you can't find it playing anywhere else in Manhattan, ESPN Zone probably will be showing it. This is also a fun place to sports related games and video games. There are lots of interactive games here!

I recently attended an event at the ESPN Zone at Times Square.
We had the SkyBox for our event. It was rather smallish, good for an intimate party, though it turned out a bit too small for the event. If you are looking for anymore that 35 people, this is not the place to do it. Squished and too warm. Chairs are provided, but more tables and chairs would have been more desirable.
Other than that, it was comfortable. The Sky Box allows you to look down over the people in the regular dining area, like being in the press box at a game. The huge wall of TV screens are in front of you and presents you with the current seasonal sport. We had basketball, there was a game on, and there were also scores for other games and sports being shown so you can keep up with what else is going on.
The food was good. I had some chicken with mushrooms which was pretty tasty, hubby had some beef that was a little tough. The bar was OK but the drinks were not that strong. The cheesecake was the hands down winner.
There is also a game room which we did not visit. I understand the games focus on - gee - sports.
Bathroom was clean, and the wait staff was pretty nice. There is absolutely no parking available. This is at Times Square. Take the train.
If you are into sports, and want someplace where you can eat your dinner and watch your favorite game, this is the place. But as I am not a big sports fan, this was lost on me.
However, I can see a sports nut having the time of his life here.

This place has an area where you can watch sports events live, it is sort of a lounge/ dining area. It really gets busy here. Getting a table is difficult and the food is really not that great. It is typical pub food but it doesn’t taste that great and it is overpriced. The best part of the ESPN Zone is the interactive gaming section.

these machines are unreal. i do not consider myself a 'gamer' but its tought not to get caught up in these games. they are so real and lifelike you feel like youre there actually doing in real life whatever game youre playing. i'd say the bar is for losers as is that lounge area... it gets crowded and jammed with alot of tourists.

It's a pretty rowdy place, but it's a good place to go after work with a couple of buddies to grab a beer, perhaps watch a game, and get some grub that sure isn't good for you but tastes good. The place is huge, so if you have to wait, it shouldn't be for very long. There are games on the top floor. Not very good games though, so don't waste your money on those.
