Stepping Out studios is the bomb! They have all kinds of dancing classes for all levels and they even help you find a partner and choreograph dance routines if you want to enter a dance competition. They teach tango, salsa, quick steps, ballroom everything you see on Dancing with the Stars. The classes are fairly priced and you get a discount if you refer someone.

This is one of the most popular rehearsal studios in the city, because it is clean, well-kept, centrally located and professional looking. It's also crowded, chaotic and expensive, and hard for new customers to find regular times to book there. They have a range of rooms in terms of size and whether or not they have pianos, mirrors, etc. and the floors range in quality drastically, so if you are booking for a dance class or audition, it's best to go in person to review the option. Certainly, holding your class, audition or rehearsal here will make you look professional.

I want to preface everything I'm about to say with the following: I am not exaggerating.
Harlequin Studios is where actors go to die, or possibly, after they die, if they've been bad, this is where hell is. This study is dirty, run down and bizarre (a reason why you have to see it once). I rehearsed a film here and had a ceiling tile fall on my head. There is bizarre orange carpeting on some of the walls. Insects. Scary woman with a tracheotomy at the front desk. Discontinued brands of candy in the vending machines. A collapsed stairway full of bird droppings.
It's really cheap, and in a way, every actor needs to see it once, but if you're trying to create a good impression or value your health or sanity, DO NOT RENT HERE.

the studios themselves have a certain amount of character -- old pianos, wood floors, plants. But the spaces are rundown, and floors pitted in places (they're better than many floors in New York, but it only takes putting your toe in the worng place once to have a serious dance injury). The changing rooms are gross, and the last time I was there some altercation happened during my class such that peopel in the hall were threatening to call the cops. Not as bad as Harlequin, but in the same crazy spectrum.
