The UPS store on West 12th street has always had a staff that has been extremely helpful, however there are some long lines and waits during the big rush hours, and the small space keeps me feeling a bit claustrophobic during the wait. The rates for shipping things out are very fair, but the prices for picking up packages there are more than a bit overpriced--only worth it when there is no other solution.

This is a very reliable messenger service. Within 15-30 minutes after you schedule a pick-up, the messenger will arrive. They deliver the item within an hour or so afterwards, depending on where it is located.
The service is perfect, but what's keeping my rating from perfection is their customer service. They always try to rush you off the phone and gives an attitude if you are missing some information. They are very impatient people.
But that's really a minor problem compared to their reliability.
Their price is reasonable if delivering in downtown Manhattan. The rate goes really high once it passes a certain street, I cannot recall what street at this moment. It's around 80th to 100th+ street.

The News (Daily Snooze?) is a wonderful newspaper. It's concise and easy to read, not to mention providing reader with their more than daily dose of gossip (page six) and funnies! I miss reading the DN since I now live in central Virginia. The best sports pages are here too. Some of the best columnists in the country write for the news. Great reading.

I happened into this store as I was in the neighborhood and was delighted with what I found.
I make crafts and am always on the lookout for gift boxes and display items. This place had everything I could want - huge packages of tissue paper, gift boxes of every size, multiple-sized bags. They also have felt pad displays, as well as necklace, bracelet and ring stands.
Need price tags, labels, or signs? They have those, too.
Prices seemed reasonable.
Staff was friendly and helpful, and I definitely recommend this store if you're in the market for any of these supplies.
