The fries are just amazing! Easily the best in nyc. It's better to order to go though, since it's a very small shop with not many tables.
Pros: great fries!
Cons: small store

I took a real liking to this place after one visit. This is a very fine, authentic Franco-Belgian restaurant that specializes in mussels and Belgian ales. The atmosphere is tasteful, with nice views onto Greenwich Avenue. I only tried the mussels, but I can report that they are as good and plentiful as any I have had (altho I enjoyed the ones at Le Monde and other French restaurants too). They are served with fresh bread and french fries. The menu does have other dishes, in case shellfish is not your favorite. There is a nice selection of intriguing Belgian brews as well. The service was competent and pleasant, and the prices were reasonable for the level of quality offered here. My girlfriend and I had a very pleasant meal, and we plan to return.
Pros: mussels, ambiance

Hands down this is the warmest place to be on a blustery New York City day. The front end of this location is filled with communal tables where you are seated and may even strike up a great conversation with neighbors.
Another section of the front end is a cafe/bakery that boasts delicious, fresh baked breads, cookies, and European chocolates.
The back section is comprised of regular restaurant tables and where the cooks/bakers get everything done. We were lucky to sit right next to a basket full of fresh loaves made with allsorts of ingredients; and the jams at the tables were absolutely tasty.
Hands down, the Mocha has the tastiest belgium chocolate infused into , and you cannot help but order another. Do not leave New York City without trying this place out!
PROS: Mocha
CONS: Too small a stomach to try everything at once

I went to Butter for restaurant week. The actual menu may be a big over priced, but I didn't really check that out. The food, however, was soooo yummy. I had the best soup I've ever eaten in my life here - no exaggerating. It just made me so sad when it was finished! I've heard of celebrity sightings and all that hype here, but putting that all aside, my meal was worth the $35 + tip for restaurant week.
