The first massage I had was very good which brought me back a second time despite the unfriendly receptionist. Unfortunately, the second massage was low quality. There were also sick people coughing and making all sorts of noise whilst I was there. I left very disappointed and won't return.
Pros: Price
Cons: Not very welcoming

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a "spa". This hole in the wall should not even be considered a spa. Upon your arrival you are asked to pay and are informed that if you pay via credit, you will be charged a service fee. You are then guided through a tiny hallway to a room which seperates you from the person next to you only by a shower curtain. You are then instructed to disrobe, in the few inches of space you are alotted, and place your belongings in a plastic bin which you then place under your massage bed. My masseuse came into the room and could not have been ruder. She started rubbing her elbows on my back in a circular motion, that wasnt the problem, the problem was that she was rubbing so fast I felt as though she was rushing to get somewhere. She then proceeded to "massage" my back with the dropletts of oil she would drop into her hand and would continue to deeply rub my RIBS and my SHOULDER blades! I felt as though I was in a torture chamber! My body was tense during the entire session, which was supposed to be 50 minutes and was not more than 30! The moaning of the man on the other side of my shower curtain, whose table was about 1 foot away from mine, just added to this horrific experience. This place is not even worth the reduced spa week rates! I will make sure to put it on my list of places I will never return to. I just hope im not bruised tomorrow!
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: EVERYTHING

I actually worked at Graceful Services for a couple of weeks back in like, 2005. The job wasn't right for me, but when I started getting upper back pain a few years later, they became my saving grace!
After trying out a few more expensive places that charged between $90 and $120 for an hour on the table, I remembered that in 2005, Graceful Services charged $60 for the hour. In 2008, it was still the same. I now go at least once a month. They seem to be almost always open (hours are 10 am to 10 pm) and if I'm in a lot of pain, I can call the day of and get a time that I want. With many places I found that I had to call a week or more in advance to get a time I wanted. By downsizing the glitz you get at a spa, Graceful Service is able to squeeze in more beds and therefore, more clients. It is a no frills operation. For those who like the spa atmosphere, this isn't it. Your room is literally just the bed with a foot of space surrounding it, separated from the other beds by a curtain. But if you want a good strong massage, you won't be disappointed.
My one gripe would be the hot towels used...because they don't have a locker room or showers, you get a kind of wipe down with wet towels when your massage is over, to get rid of the oil. The last time I went, the towels used were SO hot, I felt like I was getting third degree burns. It was pretty excruciating. But then, they take the towels off, and you're suddenly freezing with just the sheet over you. So that's a little odd, but I guess better than spending the rest of the day with oils all over your body.
All in all, Graceful Services is a great, inexpensive place to go to de-stress. I've recommended it to many of my friends who have also loved the experience.
Pros: great massage, cheap
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Pros: Not Expensive
Cons: Not a Place for Thorough Pampering

Massage was very good. Place a little cramped and they are definitley cheating on time. I paid for an hour but got 45 minutes of massage. I know it takes time to get ready for a massage and after to get dressed but I was there for my 3 o'clock and was out of the room before 4. Been to other spas and they give you what you pay for. Overall the massage was good and people were very friendly. Watch the time

I have been going to Graceful Services for several years and I always get a dependable, solid deep tissue massage. I need a pretty strong massage and the staff have been able to deliver. The place is no frills so don't expect to be pampered, but if you have sore muscles it is good value for Manhattan.

I have been to many places in the city and elsewhere for waxing and have NEVER had as horrible an experience as I did at this place. First of all, it took forever--over 2 hours--which is ridiculous! Second, it was incredibly painful--and no, I don't mean normal painful the way it is every time you get waxed. To top it all off, it wasn't even a thorough job!
I have never posted a review before and really felt like I had to to try to save someone else from a horrible, horrible experience. Definitely would NOT go back for any service.
Pros: None!
Cons: expensive, poor results, painful, took forever!

I was very disappointed with my recent experience at Graceful Services. I was expecting a little more for my money considering this an "award winning" spa. The website pictures are very deceiving, so definitely don't expect the relaxing decor or environment that is portrayed. The room was insanely cramped and it took me a while to figure out that I needed to put my plastic box of belongings under the massage bed. There was no room to just put it on the floor, so that was an interesting task. The "rooms" are separated by curtains and I could literally see the impresson of the masseuse next door as she manuevered around the cramped spot. Although there was relaxing music, it was usually muffled by the loud noises in the hallway and the hot stone treatment in the room next door, which was very distracting.
The massage in general was not good, to put it nicely. I'm not sure if it was the environment, but I just couldn't get comfortable. Like the woman who posted before me, I have scoliosis and this masseuse just couldn't get it right. I'm actually in more pain now, than I was when I went in.
I definitely do not recommend this place. Spend a little more money and go to a spa where they have real rooms and better trained masseurs.
Pros: Price
Cons: Cramped spaces, no closed rooms, noisy, poorly trained masseurs
