These guys have an ok set up and they usually have all of the new comics in stock but they have a massive problem with keep older rare stuff in stock. I'd go to specialty stores for that. On top of that, they have a good selection of old baseball collector cards worth checking out.

Alex's MVP Cards and Comics is a sports card comic book shop that my son likes to shop in. They are on a side street and on the smallish side and you wont find anything real spectacular but they are friendly and do carry enough of an assortment of new and old products that unless you are an advanced collector you should be able to find something that makes you happy. They charge decent prices and have always been friendly.

Alexs M V P Cards & Comics is a small, comfortable neighborhood hobby shop that carries a decent selection of sports cards, comic books and game cards such as Pokemon and U-Gi-Oh. This is not one of the mega stores thta are more common downtown but if you need a pack of the newest baseball cards or your child wants some Pokemon cards to replace ones he lost playing with his friends this is the place to shop. The few times I've shopped here they have been friendly and helpful.

My son has recently taken up comic book collecting and I've made the tour of New York Comic stores. Alex's is on the small side and doesn;t have much by the way of older comics but they do carry most of the new comics as well lots of baseball and basketball cards. They also have Pokemon and U-Gi-Oh cards.

Alex's MVP Cards & Comics is one of the few stores of its kind in Manhattan. Their prices for packs of sports cards are typically siginificantly higher than the card stands on the street. In addition, the single cards are more expensive than they should be. However, the people who work there are very nice and helpful.

Northern most store on the East Side Alex's has been around a good 15-20 years. It's a small space and even though it is pretty crammed they really don't have all that much. That being said they carry a mix of comics and cards and if you just want a quick read or need a few packs of cards to satisfy your pack opening cravings then a stop here wouldn't be such a bad thing.
