Yeah, the appearance says “totally seedy,” but the men & women who work here know they’re not here for their health. You won’t find more attentive & on the ball service anywhere in NYC. One of the very best bars in the city for people who aren’t concerned with scenes or attitudes.

More
With legions of adoring regulars, Time Out does not need the typical overzealous bouncer, blaring hip-hop, or strange martinis to draw a comfortable crowd. Rather, it maintains its status as a grade-A hangout by welcoming anyone who walks in the door with a fantastic blend of (heavily 80s) music and consistently good beer and well drinks.
As if that is not enough, Time Out has three beer pong tables that often become the center of attention. Challengers write their names on a chalkboard, lining up to beat one of the many champions who call Time Out home. Before you know it, you will be accepting a victory drink from the bartender with whom you beat some lesser team.
The other center of attention is the television screens, which reliably host the best sports of the evening. Sports memorabilia deck the walls.
Food, if slow to your table, is quite good. Try the wings.

More
It's not a place to luxuriate with Turkish rugs, crushed velvet ottomans, Victorian inspired settees, and luminous chandeliers, but SOB's, hands down, remains one of New York's most important clubs as a gateway to world music and cultures from across the globe. Over the past 21 years, the Sounds of Brazil has become a New York staple for African, Asian, Latin, Rhythm and Blues, Reggae and Caribbean sounds, Funk, and all things Soul Music. Willing to test new waters, SOB's plays host to new dance sounds like Basement Bhangra from South Asia and Salsa Groove, a new dance spin on the classic sounds of Tito Puento, Eddie Palmieri, and El Gran. In essence, SOB's is keeping the experimental feel of Manhattan's music culture alive, especially as clubs like CBGBs close and take bits and piece of NYC culture with it.
Nestled off the beaten path in the Village, putting you South of Houston near the Westside Highway, SOB's location alone will give you a sense of something different and underground, making you feel as if you are the first to find out about a new sound, technique, and taste. To draw you closer into the experience, the club also offers a tasty Brazilian inspired menu that compliments the multicultural music that is always center-stage.
There's room to dance, good food, and in between your travels to distant lands, you can find a home at SOBs as a world within the big Apple.

Managed to get in last night with my girl - door policy is super tight, but it was worth the wait - music was sick, crowd was great - they even had a saxophone player and a trumpet player playing along with the DJ which brought a cool vibe. I wouldn't suggest going there with a group of friends - but its def NYC's new hotspot, I'm feeling it, and will def. be back...bring a date, bring a good crew...
Outside door staff can be a little rude, but they were just doing their job, but once you get inside - staff is amazing (and beautiful)...I am feeling The Eldridge!
Pros: the crowd, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere
Cons: the door staff

The Dressing Room is on high-rotation in my list of NY destinations. I always shop there if I'm going out or to a party and want to ensure that no-one else in the room will be wearing it. They have a great roster of young designers upstairs (all very distinct and wearable, but affordable) and downstairs is a huge collection of vintage for men & women at amazing prices.
The bar is really great too - everyone is really friendly that works there and on the weekend it's a great mix of artists, designers, indie rockers and locals. The drinks are reasonably priced and they are always playing somekind of really interesting movie on the back wall, which really adds to the ambiance. It's a great place for a date or to meet up with your friends. Also, if you have friends in from out of town, this should definitely be a stop on your list.
Pros: Great Young Designers, Great Vintage, Great Prices - Jewelry is Awesome too!
Cons: Not open on Mondays

I went to Rm 55 over the weekend with some girlfriends. I have been to the Dream Hotel already and partied at Ava on the rooftop so i knew that this was destined to be a good night. Rm55 is a really s*xy lounge and a pretty hot place to be on sat night. There was a very good looking and upscale crowd, pretty even between girls and guys. Cocktails were terrific...strong and made well (unlike so many upscale places) Def will be back. Def a place for an upscale and s*xy night.
Pros: Really hot place
