I have been coming here for years. The service is great and the prices can't be beat. The hair wash/head massage will leave you feeling like you're in heaven. When you're ready to get a few hairs trim, the stylist is good at listening. So you don't walk out, looking miserable. Everyone leaves looking great and they didn't spend big bucks. My family has been going to different people in this salon for a number of years and we wouldn't change a thing.

This place is a complete joy. I have a child who was not that thrilled with getting his haircut. A parent to one one of his school playmates suggested that I take him to Cozy's. I have to say that after one visit to Cozy's my son was completely sold on the idea of getting his haircut. I could not believe that my son actually sat still in one of those cool car chairs, watched his favorite DVD (Best of Elmo), while one woman cut his hair in what seem like it took all of two minutes. His haircut was fantastic. My son has two cowlicks in his head so I was completely impressed. Moreover, this place is great. The staff was wonderful and my child was pleased, as was I.

I am a fan of Supercuts -- cheap, relatively stylish haircuts suit me fine. I've gone to Supercuts around the country in all the cities I've lived in, and generally had good experiences. This particular location, however, on 3rd Ave near 32nd St, was the most dismal Supercuts I have ever come across.
The facility itself was not clean -- there was hair everywhere, and some of it had been there awhile. The staff barely communicated with me (I was the only customer on a weekend afternoon, which perhaps should have tipped me off). There was a brush/clipper salesman there and the woman cutting my hair was far more interested in him than me.
I asked for a 1-inch trim and a few layers around my face -- basically easy maintenance on my last cut. I tried to engage the woman to be sure she understood me, and after a few minutes she'd convinced me that she and I were on the same page. I must have said "very basic" about six or seven times...
She then proceeded to chop me like there was no tomorrow. She gave me something entirely different than what I'd asked for. I'm going to have to get another haircut to clean up the mess she made of my head. AND, in the middle of the cut, a bandaid flew off her finger and hit me in the forehead. Needless to say, I was far from satisfied with my experience at this location.
Supercuts in general are fine -- they are McCuts, and if that's what you need, they're more than capable. But avoid the 3rd Ave/32nd St location like the plague!! They were, in one word, AWFUL.

First off, you have to find Roma's. It's in the stairway going down to the 1/9 station at 50th Street on the downtown side. The stairs are on the south side of 50th, just west of B'way. Roma's will give you a decent shampoo and cut and it's quite inexpensive at 16 bucks. You ususally don't have to wait because they are quick and there are usually 3 or 4 barbers. It's not exactly your "classic" barbershop because at least two of the barbers are women.

Perhaps it should best be compared to a museum. The Saks Fifth Avenue location, on Fifth Avenue, is simply a shrine to handbags. I cannot kid you. I have only purchased a Saks branded tote bag there, as that is all I can afford. Nonetheless, I make sure I stop in there at least once each year to revel in the presence of some of the top designer labels.
Fendi, Yves St. Laurent, Gucci, Burberry…they are the bags you see in Vogue and Women’s Wear Daily and just dream of owning. I splurge on some lower end bags, but I head to this museum of purses to check out some of the finest stuff on the market. I did buy a wristlet at Saks once, so does that count as a purse?
Seriously, this store is a must for a person who admires good workmanship. Saks is absolutely mobbed during the holiday season, but if you happen to be in Manhattan at any other time, it is worth a look. And don’t be afraid to buy the tote bag – I actually got plenty of use out of it!

I've been going here for almost 20 years for my hari cuts. The service is just great as it's always been. It's a basic local barber - they cut my hair with no fuss or fluff. They spruced up a few years ago to serve women but it still is great for men. Great, quick, professional service. About $25 for a men's haircut - price hasn't changed in years.

More
Male professionals from all industries stop by John Allan's two locations (one in midtown, one in downtown) to get a haircut with all the trimmings. The ambience is old-fashioned clubhouse, all dark wood and leather: there's a pool table in one corner, shoeshine stands in another, rows of comfy loungers and cigar and massage rooms in back. Drinks are served and you're free to lounge around after your treatment.
The Services
You don't just get a haircut here: The reasonably-priced "Full Service" package also includes a scalp massage, hot towel face wash, manicure and shoeshine. Beard trims and facial or body massages of various lengths are also available, along with a branded line of products. As you relax in your chair while one staff member cuts you hair and another massages and manicures your hands, you'll feel like quite the king.
My finance recently purchased the "Full Service" package and he couldn't be happier. According to him, "Hands down the best haircut and the most wonderful setting for a man to get a haircut and a shine. The moment you walk in your Jacket and Bag and quietly placed in the coat check. Feel like a drink? How about a beer? Enjoy a cold one as you sit in an amazing leather arm chair while a true expert makes you look like a million. All this and the price is right!
