The theater at MSG is a nice venue for theater productions like the recent Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby (wonderful!) and children's fare like Sesame Street Live. Best to get seats close up in orchestra so you can really see all the action. They do let you move to closer seats if no one comes for them. Several years back they had Christmas Carol here and did up the lobby in Victorian towns theme and it was really lovely and they sold nice well made ornaments. Now it has devolved into a circus-type atmosphere with vendors hawking popcorn, cotton candy etc at high prices before the show and during intermission. You are better off bringing your own treats for the kids or buying them nearby at KMart or Duane Reades. They also sell cheap toys and flashlights at high prices. Try also to get discount tickets since regular prices are fairly high. Booster seats available for the asking.

Howard Johnson is a well known chain hotel that will be familiar to any family or business person who travels often. This location is not very large, however can serve its customers with around three hundred rooms. They have a dining service, but I would suggest going out to eat in the big apple.

I booked this room through one of the bargain deal hotel websites thinking I was going to make this a solo trip to NYC. However, life happens and plans change. Wanting a larger room which could accomodate two people, I called the hotel directly to make the change. First of all, when they answered, they tersely said "HELLO!" A properly answered front desk greeting for a hotel is to state the name of the hotel at least. Not knowing if I had dialed the correct number, I asked if this was the hotel by name. "Yes," he stated with a heavy Indian accent. With nothing more said on the other side, I proceeded with my inquiry deciding to ignore the rudeness (after all NYC is not known for their kindred spirits and overwhelming hospitality). He gives a chuckle after my request and starts speaking to someone on the other side in Hindi about how this American is so.....You get the picture. The guy was making fun of me thinking I did not understand!! This is how the service began at this place before I even arrived there. You cannot imagine what happens next. Truly, the rudest and meanest front staff ever! They are definitely not service orientated.
Pros: location
Cons: rudness abounds!!
