Beer lovers listen up! The Heartland Brewery has several locations throughout the city. I've only been to the one in Union Square though.
They carry about 8 of their own microbrewed varieties plus several seasonal or temporary kinds (right now is the Smiling Pumpkin Ale). You can get a sampler platter with, I think, 6 ounce glasses, one of each type to see what fits you best.
I wouldn't recommend eating there for the sole purpose of leaving more room for beer. If you insist on eating then definitely, 100% go for the sliders.
They also have strange concotions with beer and hard liquor like their newet realease call the Berry Champagne - "...red reaspberry puree, a touch of ginger, some pomegranate oil, and special Belgian yeast that creates a dry effervescent finish, this is beer with a sweet crisp taste..."'
Up for something new? go to Heartland...

I used Jason's Catering for my daughter's birthday party and everything turned out wonderful. The service was amazing, the food was delicious and everyone was praising every entree all night. My cousin booked them for her anniversary party on the spot!

$199 per night on a weekend can't be beat. They allowed us to check in early after arriving on a red eye from the west cost. Free breakfast was good. Just get up early to avoid the line. The rooms were modern, clean and very spacious. Easy acess to rest of the city by cab or train. Book the AAA rate and save. Well worth it.
Pros: Price, Room Size, Breakfast
Cons: Parking

My husband and I stayed here last weekend for a getaway to the city. We were on a plane all night, and were very tired when we arrived at the hotel at 8:30 am. Almost certain we were going to be told to check our bags and return later, we were delighted to hear that our room was ready! They gave us some warm cookies, wished us a good rest and suggested we talk with the concierge if we were wondering what to do in town. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was nice but small. (What do you expect in NYC?) The toiletries were nice and the room was very clean. The hotel is only a 6 dollar cab fare from Fifth Avenue. We highly recommend it!
Tip: Visit Cafe Metro right next door to the hotel. The food is delicious and a lot cheaper than room service. Great to eat there, and great breakfast to go!
Pros: Centrally located, good value, yummy cookies, really comfortable beds!
Cons: $30 for eggs and toast from room service. Ouch!

Artery clogging deliciousness at Ruth's Chris in the form of a steakhouse salad, potatoes au gratin and a filet mignon on a 500 degree plate. With a glass of Feudi di San Gregorio's Rubrato. The meat was high quality, the salad crisp and fresh, but the au gratin was bland.
I finished everything but the au gratin and was stuffed (but not sick) & satisfied. It did leave me $72 in the hole though.
Delightful staff!
For people in my income bracket, Ruth's Chris is a place to visit as a treat -- I am by no means a regular. But when I crave a really good steak and have some extra scratch, I spend the night at Ruth's.

We go to NYC with some regularity and nearly always encounter some problems with the accomodations. New York is expensive, so that is a given. But the worst part of visiting NYC is being lumped together with tourists, even if you are one! For visitors who used to live here and understand the city, we don't want to stay in some chain in Times Square. We want a real, residential NYC experience. The Gem provides that. It is understated, comfortable, quiet, friendly and well appointed. If you are looking for some kind of palatial suite with lots of amenities, then this isn't your hotel. But if you just want a peaceful place to hang your hat which is near great restaurants and public trans in a residential area, then consider the Gem.
Pros: Accomodations, location, toiletries

I just spent the weekend there with my boyfriend and had a great time. Everyone was nice and helpful. The hotel was clean and the service was great. 5th ave, Madison ave, central park etc were just a few blocks away. Be aware of discounts...thats why we stayed there..saved us an extra $50 a night. With the money we saved we went out to many of the local bars...I suggest Opal around the corner.
Pros: service was great
Cons: bring your own pillow

The Rainbow Room is truly a wonderful place. Come here at night time and get a table and drinks. Make sure you get a seat by the window because on a clear night you can see miles away. The view is spectacular and place is really pretty. If you are going on a first date this would make for a very romantic evening.

I have stayed at the Arlington Hotel 4 times over the course of the apst 3 years and have found that it is a decently priced well-run hotel. For the location it is a bargain, and I am planning on going again this March and have booked my weekend stay back into the hotel. Plus I love the Chinese Food Restaurant in the hotel.!
Pros: Location, Location, Location
