Montebello Ristorante Italiano is one of the most sophisticated and inviting restaurants in New York, and has been a standout on the culinary landscape of the city for the past 15 years. Glowing sconces, soft coral walls and vintage bottles of wine create an atmosphere of elegance that is perfect for both whispering sweet nothings to a loved one or discussing business during a power lunch. The food is just so good, and the dessert is also outstanding. The waiters are so attentive. They also have a great wine list. I cant wait to go back.

If you're looking for a great place to take a date and of course for excellent jazz, then this is the place. They are always crowded on the weekends, and especially when they invite famous jazz players to come. So I'd recommend getting your tickets in advance and showing up a bit earlier so that you can get a good seat. The food is mediocre, but the blue note isn't known for their food, but more of the ambience. I wish the place was a bit bigger, but the acoustics would probably be bad for those in the rear. The full bar is great, and there's no smoking which is also excellent. Overall, I'd recommend for singles, but definitely for couples.

My husband and I went into NYC overnight to see Jersey Boys (GREAT show!). Checked this website for a good local Italian Restaurant. Having one parent from Northern Italy and one from Southern Italy, I am used to REALLY good Italian food! This often makes it difficult to dine out. I read the reviews, checked out the menu, and thought we'd give it a try.
WOW! It's not often that your experience exceeds your expectations! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty! It was Valentine's Day and the restaurant was busy but they were able to accommodate our request to add two to the reservation at the last minute! The appetizers were amazing! The Buffalo Mozzarella was AUTHENTIC Buffalo Mozzarella! The eggplant parm was SOOO FRESH! Three of us had the veal chop with the prosciutto and mozzarella. YUMMMMM! They were cooked to perfection and incredibly delicious! The risotto with shrimp and asparagus was really delicious! The salads were fresh and beautifully presented.
The owner was really on top of things! He walked by each table every ten minutes or so to make sure everything was up to his standards. Quite impressive! As we were leaving, he asked us how everything was. You could tell he was genuine. I LOVE when a restaurant exceeds your expectations! I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant!
Pros: LOVED THE DECOR, THE SERVICE, AND THE FOOD!!!!
Cons: Can't think of ONE!

The staff here are wonderful and friendly. It seems to me that the hotel is starting to show its age...the lobby looks kind of worn. The minibar is very overpriced, so don't eat or drink anything from there. The hotel is in a great, convenient location. The Museum of Modern Art is pretty close to the hotel, be sure to go there.

I often look on CitySearch for new restaurants and places I've never been before. My friends and I get together every week and they usually leave the choosing up to me! After reading the reviews I thought Montes Trattoria sounded really good and got the girls together.
This is a really cute little restaurant and has a great ambience and warm feeling as you walk in. The staff are very friendly, from the minute you walk in, until you leave.
Everyone agreed that the food was fantastic and that we'd be back, most likely with our partners as there was a very romantic feel to this restaurant.
The manager brought us a glass of wine after dinner, which was very kind.
Would highly recommend!
Pros: Service, Food, Wine

The Flatotel is not like any of the big chains out there. It is a unique place and the decor is really cool. My dad stays there all the time when he is in town on business. The room are extremely nice and spacious. There's a desk in every (or at least most) rooms along with a Herman Miller "Aeron" chair, by far the most comfortable desk chair. Rooms range from regular to suite. There is a concierge and a bar downstairs to help you if you need. You can definitely find cheaper, but prices are reasonable for New York City. If you're looking for something a little different, but still convenient and upscale, check out the Flatotel.

On Monday nights, the very best trad jazz band plays Club Cache, downstairs from Sofia's. Vince Giordano's Nighthawks hold court there from 8-11 and you are back in the 1920s in a speakeasy, with delicious salads and excellent veal and pasta dishes. The salmon steak is my favorite of all. Service is ok, sometimes the soda is flat, bathrooms need remodeling. But the meals are very good and high quality, very reasonably priced, and suitable for vegetarians and everyone. The crunchy breadsticks are a nice touch. Restaurant food is very good but VINCE IS WORLD CLASS.
