Good: The people who work there are very friendly and get to know all of the customers. They are patient, and don't even show anything on their faces when someone spends 15 minutes choosing one bagel. The store perfectly fits in with the neighborhood, small, friendly, and personalized. The bagels are also the tastiest bagels ever made, and there is a huge menu. A great thing is that they also serve coffee and orange juice and even Arizona Iced Tea. This is the best place to go, no matter what!!. Bad: Nothing is wrong with this place. They are as perfect as a little bagel shop can be!!!. Improvements: I think that everything is great. It is a small store, so there isn't much space for seating, but in the medians nearby, there are benches.. Other: The business is part family part friends. It is quick and easy to order. The selection is huge and tasty, and it is an ultimate place for a bagel or even for a coffee, whether you are rushing in the morning, or just want a snack. After passover, every person in my family goes to break the wheat fast..

Amy's rocks. The best bread in the city with a few locations throughout. But get the full experience and go to 9th ave located in what is heaven on earth: Chelsea Market. Go for the bread and stay for pretty much everything else you could possibly want.
Amy's is consistently well priced, but the best bargain is the many different rolls, and the daily specials cannot be beat, making it almost a daily destination. Atkins fans, I pity you.

Amy Scherber ruined the Atkins diet for me. I just couldn't resist the delicious breads (and cakes) from her shop. The Hell's Kitchen outpost is my favorite because it is the closest to my work. In the morning, a chocolate twist perfectly complements the first cup of joe. For lunch, a toasted sandwich and some soup. For a snack, the ginger cookies. Nothing is cheap, but it is made right in the space next door and you can smell the goodness down the street!

If you love tea and shopping, then you've hit the jackpot. After some fabulous shopping in Soho, stop by this lovely tea shop and let yourself be seduced by the beautiful tins of exotic teas and lovely pastry. The tea choices are immense for such a small place, but the servers are all knowledgeable and are willing to help you pick the perfect tea. The food is delicious, but you might want to skip it and just go right for the dessert. Word has it that they will be selling some of the tea pots that you will find decorating the café. Just one more reason to stop in.

This local bagel shop bakes their bagels on site and has been a neighborhood staple. It is a small store and service is quick and friendly. They have all kinds of bagels(sesame, cinnamon raisin, salt, etc) including the nothing bagel (no fat, no sugar, etc etc) and also day-old bagels for $1/6 bagels, mini-bagels, delicious spreads including dill/chicken and walnut (though lately they have been skimping on the walnuts!) and sometimes muffins or cookies. Not the cleanest shop but they do have the most delicious bagels. Lines on weekend mornings.

Balthazar is special - good food, great service, fair (for NYC) prices. Enter the room and it transports you to another time and place. Are you in Paris? Are you in this century? Who can tell? But the food is really the star here. We go for brunch - parking is a snap on a Sunday AM. Get here before 10:00 AM and you are limited to a continental breakfast - breads, granola (my favorite), soft boiled eggs with toast "soldiers" and a killer Quiche. After 10, all the classic brunch dishes are available (plus a raw bar).
Their French Toast is outstanding. The coffee perfect. Their service is very good. The whole experience is so civilized - it makes me smile for the rest of the day.

I am a huge fan of Beard Papa's cream puffs- they're light and fluffy, and the cream inside- cold, sweet, and almost too delicious to believe. The place is very trend, full of wild, bright colors, and while the prices can be a bit high (though the salads here are average-priced I think), the food is absolutely delicious, and the service is wonderful. The only downside is the location. It's not exactly located at a scenic area of Manhattan; the street outside is busy and hectic; not the ideal spot for lunch. But go for the food!

Bite down on the crisp outer shell and cool, sweet, rich, buttery vanilla cream spurts into your mouth and as it travels down your throat, its hard not to close your eyes and say mmm mmm good! Try the chocolate eclair - it's an outrageous treat for the tastebuds as well and at that price, it's a steal!
Pros: best cream puff

I didn't understand why people waited on a line around the corner at Magnolia Bakery. It's very good, but there are places that are just as wonderful (although not featured in Sex & the City, I suppose). This is one of them! Billy's is a candy-coloured small bake shope that makes you want to try one of everything. The vanilla cake is great. I've bought cupcakes here and over-nighted them to friends that don't live in the city. So if you're in Chelsea and don't want to deal with the hassel of waiting 15min for a cupcake, stop by Billy's!

This place is great. The coffee is excellent, the food is delish, and the staff is super friendly. It's nice to find a coffee shop-sort that has a lot of food, and food that is actually good (unlike Starbucks). Especially good is the 3 salad combo that comes with bread. Only down side is that it is a little small and during lunch time can get a little crowded and pushy inside, but it's still worth it.
