makes it easy to miss. However whenever I go in there all the cookies and breads are always freshly made and always taste delicious.

This little bakery is tucked off Broadway. It's located one level below street level and many people are drawn to the small spot by the sweet smells wafting onto the Upper East side. While the bread looks great, I come for the cookies.
This was my treat after each prenatal pregnancy class--an oatmeal raisin cookie. I'm sure it undid any of the health benefits of my 90 minute yoga class, but they taste divine. Moist to the point of being gooey and chocked full of plump juicy raisins. They simply are the best cookie in the city.
The one drawback--they are just too big. And there are frightfully expensive ($3.50 per cookie). It's challenge to down a whole cookie without feeling like a brick of butter has been deposited in your belly. It's a good idea to bring a friend and split a cookie.
Which brings us to the second problem. You can only sample one at a time because they are so large, which means it took me 4 months before I had the dark chocolate cookie with peanut butter chunks. Now I want both but can't reasonably finish even one. Sad but true.
As an afterthought they also have sandwiches, brioche and other buttery breads. Small counter for those who want to eat in--but it's far too warm and small.

this is hands down the best cookie on the planet. it would freak me out though if i knew how many calories were in each one. i suspect around 5,000. but even if that were the case, i would still eat them every chance i had. they are monsters - about a half pound each. so buttery and soft - yet crispy on the outside. i tried recreating them at home til i saw a review of them on foodnetwork - they cook em in bread ovens and 500 degress.

i know people are always saying this or that is the best ever which reduces the potency of that statemnt. however, when i say it i mean it. these cookies are hands down beyond compare. i am a die hard chocohalic and this is like a godsend for me. if i lived in the neighborhood i would definitely be a fat bastige as these things must contain over 1000 calories each. but they are so worth it. the regular chocolate chip is good, but nothing like the double choc chip or the ph choc chipper.
