When you put the words "sushi" and "Tribeca" in the same sentence, you're almost always asking for Nobu as your answer. It is a New York institution and every New Yorker should try it at least once in their lifetime, especially if they have an expense account.
However, Tokyo Bay which is also in the neighborhood, is a great little sushi spot. It's small and very reasonably priced. It's basically a 180 degree turnaround from Nobu in space and attitude, but every bit as tasty and serviceable. It's referred to a local secret, so I might get lambasted for even mentioning it here, because the sushi is so good and the place is so small. Still, I feel it's worth sharing as you shouldn't have to pay through the nose to have to great sushi in Tribeca.

Squabbling among family members has kicked off the much fabled chain of Grand Sichuan restaurants, each dissident branch taking a further departure from the original. The Canal Street location is the original and still produces the most satisfactory of Chinese dishes of them all.
Sweet and sour chicken that's crispy, not soggy? Check. Drunken crab that makes you feel like you're drunk from the deliciousness of it? Check. Sea cucumber which you've never had before, but will make you a convert? It's here. The food is not complicated, well prepared, and most dishes are a revelation. This is the only Grand Sichuan, the rest are just pretenders.

that you have never had a bad experience? Well, I can't count all of mine on one hand, not including my thumb. It's authentic Japanese here, not some fusion wannabe stuff. And the presentaiton an be a bit pretty, you may not want to disturb it to eat! LOL! But it's not cheap, but it's not expensive either, especially for what you get. A bonafied good night out.

Tabtos is definitely my favorite sushi in the city. I've only eaten there once on a cold Saturday in the late afternoon because every other time i've been there its been so crowded take out has been the best way to go. Their new spicy miso soup is outstanding, their sushi is so fresh it practically leaps into your mouth. The owners are a great family that keep it simple with a concise menu and really good food!
Pros: Fresh, Tasty, Delicious
Cons: , better option.

I work near Umi and I go there a lot. It's always really good and the staff are very nice. I like their backyard garden, and it's a good place to bring a larger group. Inside is smaller, but still nice.
Try the Specials! And the elaborate Chef's Rolls are very beautiful and tasty. My favorite is the Dragon Roll.
Pros: Fresh fish, good prices, backyard garden
Cons: Cozy indoor seating

I can't believe the restaurant is serving the most delicious noodle soup I just tasted 3 months ago in Hong Kong. I was told that the noodles were imported from Hong Kong. Not even Chinatown can beat that. I am impressd by how passionate the restaurant staff are in serving the best quality food to those who love good eats.

I have only had take out from Kiku but I can tell you that the food is fresh and delicious!
This place is a must try! It is a definite departure from all the other mediocre Japanese places that litter this city. You can tell that the owners still care about quality and service.
Enjoy!
