This is my favorite Manhattan museum. I love the Frank Lloyd Wright design. It's a genius way to view a collection with a spiral layout. I usually walk to the top and then pick my way down returning to my favorites as I descend. Of course there have been a few misses (I still do not forgive them for that Matthew Barney installation), but overall their splashy shows are worth a visit. The special programs called: Works & PRocess are phenomenal. The permanent collection is excellent and always a good rainy day diversion.

The Guggenheim museum is considered one of the best museums in the world. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright the museum is housed in one of the most unique buildings in the city. Exploring the Guggenheim is enjoyable but without a map and a bottle of water one can get lost and seriously dehydrated. A lot of great art under one roof.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum does not always have exhibits I am interested in and the permanent collection cannot even come close to the fabulousness of the Met or MoMA. So unless you dig the latest display (like when Matthew Barney's Cremaster cycle was there...PHENOMENAL for film geeks like me), the real reason to visit is the architecture. You will recognize the interior from countless films. It is a thrill to walk up it and look down as the diminishing floor - very trippy. The Guggenheim is a must-see for those (like me) who are trying to hit all of the Guggenheims in the world ( I have been to 4 so far).

From the unique design by Frank Lloyd Wright to the exclusive collection of art that lines the spiral gallery that offers some of the most unique and beautiful art, this museum is a must hit when you do the museum tour of NYC. The art runs the whole line of style, from classic to modern to sculpture to paintings. The display area is not all that huge, but to view this collection it works. Check the website for the current exhibits. Art is a matter of taste, but I have never been disappointed when I have visited.

The Guggenheim museum is truly a unique experince in that it is just a fun place to visit yet it is just so strange - or you can say unique. The works do range from amazing to rather disturbing but that is just one person's opinion. Some of the works, however, are not for the squeamish of heart. Overall, an experince to enjoy even the admission is higher than most other museums.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright it's a landmark and a work of art all without the art you'll find inside. The three things I love the most about the Guggenheim. 1. It's the perfect size for an art museum, by the time you start to feel the art fatigue and eye strain of too much museum you are just approaching the exit. 2. As designed by Mr. Wright watching the people looking at art and gazing across the spiraling building is as much a part of the process as the art. 3. Riding the elevator to the top and strolling idly down (instead of toiling up the hill the whole way). The perfect museum for tourist and New Yorker alike.

I went to this museum to do an art history project and absolutely fell in love with the place. This has been the greatest art museum i have ever been to and I highly recommend it to everyone. I felt that the 12 dollars I spent was very well worth it as I literally spent all day there and when it came time to leave I didn't want to.

If anything you can appreciate the design of the building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The exhibits can be hit or miss, but that's with most museums. Most of the time the exhibits are great, from motorcycles to Matthew Barney. Only drawback is the lines on weekends -- sometimes they stretch outside the museum and that line only leads to more lines to buy tickets. Also the subway stop for it is sort of a trek, not exactly very easy to figure out.

Call me uncultured or uncouth but this museum is horrible. Yes it has a good deal of modern art, but some of it is just ridiculous. I don’t believe that art needs to necessarily represent reality, but it needs to represent something, show something…and most of the art here misses that. The time I went there was an exhibit on Genital mutilation, and suffice to say I was not eterntained. Not to mention admission is expensive and the line is allways long.
