The name GALAXY DINER fits it better. From the counter to the booths, it's more diner than eatery (or drinkery). Our group of a dozen or so were the entire crowd, except for a few stragglers at the bar. The smallish place has one server, who was accommodating, if not Ms. Congeniality. Despite the Galaxy theme, the place was quite down-to-earth. A standard diner menu, with a few extra goodies like vegetarian potstickers. We didn't order main courses, so we can't comment on that. The calamari, we can say, was happily ungreasy. The beer selection was a step above BUD, BUD LITE, COORS. They even had Sapporo in those fancy silver cans. It's a good place to go for a quiet evening with a group. It won't be crowded. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers
Pros: quiet, unpretentious
Cons: very unspecial

I choked on the dry chicken on my caesar salad. Choked! The waitress told me I shouldn't have eaten it. The manager gave me 'talk to the hand' attitude. I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me. I'd give it no stars but the program won't let me.
Pros: My friend enjoyed her bloody mary
Cons: Bad food, inept manager does not give a flip, mean waitress

food is gross, I had ceasar salad with chicken-simply disgusting!our waitress saw that we are unhappy with the food but did not care to ask. My friend had free-range chicken, it even didn't look as chicken and tasted horrendous!
one bathroom did not work and did not have a door (!) the other one was gross.
I was so unhappy with this place that I decided to register here and write my first review.
Pros: none

I had two good meals here recently. There are some odd things on the menu, so I can't vouch for everything, but I had a caesar salad with shrimp, which I liked, and my date had soft tacos with shrimp, avocado, black beans and rice which she liked as well. My salad had baked cubes of tofu instead of croutons, which was fun and the tacos had cabbage instead of lettuce, which worked pretty well. The shrimp were fresh and nicely grilled. We shared some green tea ice cream which was flavorful. The place is casual and funky with twinkling star lights on the ceiling. Nothing amazing, but a nice place in a neighborhood with a lot of high-end restaurants. I recommend it before going to one of the nearby theaters or maybe Irving Plaza.
Pros: funky atmosphere, unusual menu
Cons: slightly over-priced; menu may not be of even quality.

This place is gross.. I have been here for both brunch and dinner and both times was sorely disappointed. The menu tries way too hard to be different and unique but they fail miserable when it comes to taste. for brunch i had the "french toast" which was god awful and sat like a brick in my stomach along with a flat mimosa. My guest had the "swedish breakfast" and being a Swede informed me that besides being bland was nothing like her breakfasts back home. For dinner I have tried many of things on the menu and can honestly say all of them are pretty gross. The soy "drumsticks" taste like soggy cardboard on a stick and the yuca fries are always way to starchy to digest.
Overall this place gets no stars but i have to put at least one for citysearch
Pros: Unique
Cons: Terrible food, tries way too hard to be different at the expense of the food

Decided to stop here before concert at the Fillmore (right next door). The friendly waitress sat us down right next to the lead singer of Gogol Bordello (the band of the night), which was a great perk. Water was given to us immediately, and our waitress was very attentive when it came to ordering. My boyfriend had the Smoked Eel burger, and I had the Thai'd Pizza. Both were extremely tasty and were served in hearty portions. The Eel burger was served with beet fries that tasted like chips, as well as a delicious cucumber/seaweed salad. Overall, the experience was very pleasant, and the atmosphere was great for a place to chill and eat right before a concert.
Pros: Service, Food
Cons: Bathrooms are extremely cramped

I was almost turned off by the "atmosphere" thinking it was a little too kitschy, but if you ignore the space decorations and emphasis on hemp the food is quite good and makes vegetarians and edgy omnivores quite happy.
Would recommend that they keep up with the great food but tone down the "out of this world" atmosphere. The food speaks for itself and makes people happy enough. Would love to go back and try many of the items on the menu, but the tandoori flavored salmon with coconut quinoa was divine.
Pros: Prices, Selection of Food, Food Quality
Cons: Too "Out of this World"

If you're craving buffalo or ostrich, or some sweet potato fries, and happen to be in the Union Square area, Galaxy's your spot. The prices are average, the service is generally good, and if you're lucky there's a boy band playing next door and you get to feel superior watching people freak out.
