So it was our first time at Mona Lisa's and it was this past Valentine's day. We had a reservation for 8:30, we showed up 15 minutes early. Of course our table wasn't ready so they jammed us into the tight bar. To say we had difficulty getting drinks would be an under statement. The bartender was very rude but I could understand since she was the only one serving both the bar patrons as well as the dining patrons. So it took 45 minutes to get a drink. When we were finally seated it was 10 o'clock. Another 45 minutes passes and we finally get our appetizers but we had no silverware, eating calamari with your fingers isn't too bad though. Tried to order the lobster tail, all out, tried to order the sea bass, all out! Long story short, We spent just under 4 hours trying a have a decent meal, huge disappointment. UNDER STAFFED AND OVER PRICED.

I went on a weeknight, so no problem getting a seat. I decided on a special, and it was AMAZING. Melt in your mouth good. Good service, not especially fast, but this is more of a fine dining experience. So don't go for a quick bite. You'll need to time to savor it all!

The Mona Lisa restaurant is a cute Italian Trattoria in a small strip mall in Newtown. It's a little pricey for the quality of the cuisine. It doesn't boast the eccentricity and creativity of other area menus, but they do make a pretty good lasagna. The service here is friendly and it's great for a big group of people. It's very nice to sit in their "greenhouse" room in the warmer months of the year.

This is a good restaurant but normally hard to get in. Reservations are definitely required. They just added a lunch special of $7.95 to try to garner some of the business crowd in Newtown. The food is good, the service okay. Nothing special. Drinks were good. But unless you have reservations on a weekend, forget it.
