Cafe Sol Azteca is a member of the LocallyGreen network and they recycle all of their waste vegetable oil locally -- kudos for 'going green'!
Pros: Recycle cooking oil locally!

The food and service were fine, but what I loved best was the cute courtyard for outdoor dining. My aunt moved to Newton 25 years ago and Sol Azteca is one of her favorite restaurants in the area. I went there for the first time this summer and was very pleased. The menu is not extensive, but they have all the authentic classics. The meals are large, so you might even end up having some to take home with you. The location is very convenient, as it is usually not hard to find street parking and it is also right across the street from the T.
Pros: parking, outdoor dining, general ambiance
Cons: Small menu

If you're looking for a new scene and decor, this is the place for you. But if you're looking for something that's going to give your tastebuds a run find another place to dine! The service was great, the people are friendly, and the location is cozy but the food wasn't worth the price. There just wasn't enough flavor for me.
Pros: Parking, service, location
Cons: Food, Choices

Sol Azteca has outstanding Mexican and Spanish food. I've had almost everything on the menu and found their carnitas (pork tenderloin with chipotle sauce) and enchilada mole are the best. It's a little pricey compared to other Mexican food places in Boston, but it's by far the best and most authentic.
I'm originally from Southern California and have travelled extensively in Mexico. This is what Mexican food should taste like.

I don't claim to be a Mexican food conniasseur, but I do tend to enjoy this place. The decor is cute, the service is good, and the food is flavorful without being too salty.

Do yourself a favor and order a glass of sangria right off the bat. It is the best I have ever had. In fact, order a carafe! The chips and salsa they serve after ordering are deadly. The salsa is the perfect consistency and the perfect degree of hotness. It’s hard to stop eating them as to not fill up before the meal comes. I have never ordered something that I haven’t enjoyed. My favorite is either the carnitas (which is spicy beef) or the enchiladas poblanas (which is made with their amazing mole sauce). If you see the soup of the day is sopa de nopal get it. One might not think that cactus soup with avocado and cheese sounds good, but it is not to be missed. In the summer the patio dining has a lovely ambiance.

This restaurant has had my loyalty for more than ten years. The atmosphere is very pleasant with bright colored walls and tables, a spacious roomy feeling, and a lovely outdoor garden seating. The food matches the atmosphere. The options are varied, unique tasting, and the portions huge. I particularly recommend the beef tacos which, with their meat and potato sauce, taste like none other. Finally, the guacamole is also the best I've come across with chunks of avocado, great flavor, and warm thick chips. With a variety of seating options, Sol Azteca is a good place to go as a couple or a group.
