Excellent Chinese food in suburban Boston. Ranks with Chinatown. Those who like Kowloon, beware, though--this is freshly cooked food served with no tiki room atmosphere, and no alcoholic drinks with umbrellas.

Why doesn't someone else open up a diner or breakfast place in Newton Centre (if the same block can sustain two ice cream places, surely they can sustain another diner!). It's incredible how popular this place is and how crowded it can get. The breakfasts are good, and they have frappes and yummy sandwiches and other things. The diner decorations are always fun, and sitting in a 50s style booth is fun. All of that said, these are indeed Newton Centre prices for pretty basic items with average sized portions. People go because there's nothing else like it around. Service is definitely always frenzied and hurried. It's not uncommon to see a line out the door, especially weekend mornings.

I'm into balance and blend of flavors in my food. If I put an ingredient in my recipe, it's because it contributes something whether subtle or robust. I love to buy TJ's herbed pizza dough (since I don't know how to make dough) and make my own pizzas at home. I don't like D'mo's pizzas... sauces is to acidic, dough is lacking flavor. I prefer the deep dish chicago style pizzas. I like the fresh chopped/diced tomato sauce. The pastry dough is good too. Hopefully, this help you get an idea what my taste buds like.
Now... My review! Nice dough for flat pizzas (not deep dish, not thin crust). Not super creative dough, but has flavor and never burnt. Great balance of sauce to toppings. I don't like it when pizzas are overloaded with tomato sauce. Interferes with the balance of flavors. You can ask for extra sauce if you prefer more sauce. Just the same, they're not too crazy with the cheese neither. You can ask for lots of cheese if that's your thing. Creative pizzas along side pizza staples. From Buffalo Chicken, Pesto Chicken, to Vegetarian to Hawaiian to Mediterranean. And a great list of toppings for the less the usual pizza lover. In general, I like the selection of toppings so I can make my own pizzas. Like artichoke, mushrooms, black olives, sausage, tomato slices, roasted red peppers, fresh basil and pesto sauce. But I've tried many of their listed pizzas just as well. Never been disappointed.
As for appetizers, I've only tried Curly Fries (very addictive), Terikaki Tips (good) and Calamari (not as good as Legal Sea Food... no surprise!) Caesar Salad is good enough.
Always great service. Quick delivery. Always nice. Good price.
Pros: Great delivery service. Quality food. Nice toppings selection.
Cons: Hard to find if you want to pickup. No restaurant. Just takeout/delivery.

As a fan of fresh, overstuffed sandwiches and panini's, I usually get my artichoke chicken sandwich from Au Bon Pain, but the Capriccio Panini-like sub at Big Daddy's blew me out of the water.
They load on the fresh buffalo mozzarella like it was shredded cheddar (most places skimp on the more expensive products to save cash) and the added chicken option is well worth it-more flavor and texture to up this already mouth watering treat. My fiance tried the garlic bread and was also amazed at how fresh and truly "garlicky" it was for just a little sub shop. I highly recommend this little Brighton joint. Free delivery and reasonable prices compared to most. I'm on my way there right now!

Tango Mango is wicked good!! A very delicious Mexican/Southwestern American eatery! They cater, albeit a bit pricey on the menu items. Quick and friendly service and they've just expanded to add more seating for regular afterschool crowds. The only downside is the wait. The line to get service at the counter (the only option) can be long and tedious. Otherwise, good eating for tasty take out or enjoying a lengthy lunch break! Just enough of a kick to the homemade guac and salsa to make me come back again and again. Fresh chips but there is an extra charge for salsa.

Great that the burgers are cooked fresh to order and they have some special types like the mediterranean and italian burger. All come with fries and they deliver too! An added benefit is that they get their cooking oil used picked up and recycled to be turned into further forms of energy. Thats very smart and love coming back here for lunch or dinner.
Pros: Unique and wide variety

There was a time not too long ago when you couldn't throw a paper cup in any direction in Newton Centre without hitting a different coffee bar; but now Seattle's Best has become yet another (yawn) Starbucks and Brugger's Bagels has become yet another (yikes!) bank. So in the (sort of) Clash of the Titans between the two remaining caffinated powerhouses, why does Peet's come out on top? Sure, they both have wi-fi and Lattes, but at Peet's, they still speak English and call a large coffee like they see 'em, and not by some fake Italinate word that doesn't even mean "big." Plus, the coffee at Peet's might just taste better. And along with the personalized service (calling you by name when your BIG Latte is ready), the sparkling marble counter, and the grande, shiny espresso machines, Peet's does a better job (if you squint a little bit) of transporting you--at least in imagination -- to the Via Venneto, even if its next-door-neighbor is an over-rated drycleaner with an ugly purple sign.

Whenever I think of Papa Gino's, it reminds me of when I was a child and my parents would bring my brother and I to the restaurant for dinner. It's just a kid-friendly atmosphere. It is old and it needs to be updated, but the food is fine. The pizza is good - it's not gourmet or anything, but it's still good. You can request crispy or well-done, which will be executed for your liking. There are also pasta dishes which are good. There are lunch specials during the day, like two slices of pizza and a soda or a pasta dish with a soda. Their subs also good, such as the steak bomb or steak and cheese. Papa Ginos's, it's a great place for families to bring their kids.
