The staff and doctors are the best around! I would not take my pets anywhere else. They provide me with estimates for the recommended services. I love that all the staff has been there for a very long time and know my pets my name. They are very happy to see me and my pets when I come in.

I've gone to Rotherwood for many years. They have two Vets that have been there for several years and two new ones. My pets have seen all of them. Some have euthanized my old timers with great compasion and some have started my new pups with an abundance of information. They all have their own style and caring manner. Quality Veterinary care as is human medical care is very expensive. One should remember that before taking on the responsibility of owning a pet.

It saddens me someone would trash an entire staff of caring animal lovers because a veterinarian was trying to do their job. Educating and informing pet owners on very real diseases is part of a responsible vets job. What a pet owner can or cannot do is their own concern but they should not make naive comments to justify what they decide to do. Blah B. should volunteer at an animal hospital or shelter and see what these people have to deal with.

I don't think I have ever seen the same vet or technician there twice in a row. The one really nice vet who I liked left years ago. It's a revolving door of disingenuous people. Snide comments along with pushing for every vaccine under the sun (along with a seemingly scripted story to accompany the reason why you absolutely HAVE to have it) seems normal for them. My strictly indoor cat was overdue for his rabies vaccine, and I got a random scare story about a bat getting inside the house and transmitting rabies. First of all, what are the odds of a bat getting inside the house. Secondly, what are the odds THAT bat having rabies. Thirdly, what are the odds that the magical rabid bat also being able to infect my cat? After bringing my dog there for her yearly shots I was rudely asked if I knew about having to register her with the town. Perhaps that registration tag already on her collar should have given that one away? I simply said yes but I certainly did not appreciate being treated as if I was ignorant. I have had it with them and will let my wallet do the rest of the talking.

The staff at Rotherwood are caring pet owners that care for the well being of your pets.
There's nothing more annoying to me than people who adopt pets at shelters because they are cheaper than breeders and only take them to the vet because they're getting something for free. The complaints start when they discover this little creature eats and needs proper medical care which includes vaccines, medical exams, labwork, heartworm prevention and depending where you live, flea and tick protection.
I don't know of any human doctor's office where you can just walk in any time you want and expect to be seen without an appointment for free first of all then you turn around and complain because they charged you for the services they provided.
It's sad that shelters aren't doing a better job of screening new pet owners and properly schooling them about what it's going to take to properly take care of these new family members. Mr. Rick D. has been a dog owner for 20 years and never had clue and it seems he still doesn't.

We adopted a dog from a shelter and were given a free vet visit as part of the adoption but were told that we had to visit a VCA hospital. So we went and at the first visit we sat through about 30min of a sales speach on all the things that we "absolutley needed to get" for our dog, about $2500 of things that me being a dog owner for 20years have never even heard of let alone needed. The dog food that they recomend is probally one of the worst things on the market and they are paid to recomend it. When we got the bill we had to pay for all of the shots that the dog recieved and my girlfriend was astonished at how much they charge for shots because she used to work at a vet office and the VCA prices were close to double what she used to charge. Further more when we left we were told to come back in a week for a check up and was told that she was not due for anymore booster shots for another two weeks. When we came back they said that they had made a mistake and that she actually was due for her shots. But instead of us getting the shots while we were there, they were going to chrage us an extra $100 for an emergency visit and we were forced to come back the next week. I also want to say that the vets there are very impersonable and do not even act like they care about your dog. When they see your dog or cat all they see are $$$$. I'm not going back.

I had a horrible experience here. While the staff was helpful and friendly, the Vet that we saw, Dr. Campbel, was discourteous and unhelpful. When I walked in the door with my 4 year-old daughter and cat she was having a loud discussion with someone about how orangutans have been know to rape women and how she is lucky that this didn't happen to her.
From there things got worse. When I made the appointment I had explained that the main reason I was coming in was to discuss options for a behavioral urination problem, including antidepressants and a pheromone product that I have heard good things about called Feliway. When Dr. Campbel came in the room I told her that my cat was urinating outside the litter box and that I was fairly sure that it was behavioral because her eating, drinking, urination and defecation were all normal and that we were having a baby in 2 weeks and preparing for a cross county move. When I brought up the antidepressants Dr. Campbel interrupted me and said, "No don't do that", and when I tried to discuss it with her she compared it to me putting my daughter on antidepressants if she was wetting the bed! After she refused to give me any information on antidepressants, I asked about other options. The only suggestions she had was that I clean the litter box; as if we hadn't thought of that. Then I asked about the Feliway, a pheromone product that I had read in some online parenting groups has worked well for people with similar problems. She was dismissive and basically told me that I was stupid to be trying to get information from the internet.
If it weren't for the fact that having brought my cat to the vet already caused her considerable stress and I didn't want to put her through it again I would have walked right out and gone somewhere else. As it is I received no help for my problem and left frustrated and angry.
