My kids love going over and over again throughout the year to see the different animals and to see if anything has changed. The kids really pick up on the different animals and the way they live.

This museum has recently expanded and improved their exhibits and parking areas. If you haven't visited recently, you need to check it out. Main exhibits are about the native wildlife in the various regions of Virginia. The touch tank with small water creatures is always a favorite of young and old alike. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Plan to go on a good weather day so you can walk the outside trail. The planetarium has comfortable seats and great "shows". Gift shop has reasonably priced items .

The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News is educational and interesting. There’s a ton of exhibits on the different types of animals that live in the area (from fish to wolves), and there’s also some hands-on stuff for the kids. The best part of the entire museum is probably the outside walk, which includes an aviary and various other animals. Admission is fairly reasonable. The Living Museum isn’t huge, but it’s a great way for the entire family to learn about the wildlife that exists in the state of Virginia. I highly recommend this museum if you’re at all interested in nature and the natural history of the state.

The Virginia Living Museum is a zoo where animals are kept in their natural habitat and not kept in bar cages. They have ducks, beavers, wolves, and much more. There is also a planetarium show I thought would be much more exciting but that was actually pretty boring. I would not recommend that. The park is very fun. For both children and adult. You would not be disappointed!

If you're looking for something a little off the beaten path for you and the kids, I would suggest checking out the Virginia Living Museum. Basically it's a bunch of animatronic dinosaurs and stuff, but the execution is both educational and enjoyable. And you'll be surprised how much kids eat this stuff up!

The Virginia Living Museum offers a variety of activities that kids and parents alike will enjoy. Not only do they have information plastered all over the place, but there are also very knowledgeable employees located at several areas where they explain the who, what, where, when, and whys that inquiring kids want to know. The museum is hands-on with some displays so the kids are not bored just looking at things. They're very much involved by the time you walk through the entrance. The museum offers fish of sorts, insects, reptiles, and birds. They also have a planetarium which is also great for little ones (and even adults). The kids enjoy this when we have field trips with their friends. It's another way to broaden your horizon. They offer membership so the kids will be able to compare "how big the animals have gotten."

Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, is one of the areas best kept secrets. I don't think it is every very busy. We enjoy going there because of the number of exhibits and the beauty of the land. They have so much to offer, with sea turtles, wolfs, spiders, and beavers. Our whole family enjoyed the trip. They have a 2 level building with 2 major solarium exhibits in half circles on each side. Then, there are educational areas and inside exhibits on each level also. You can take a walk in the woods to see other animals in beautiful, natural habitats. We really enjoyed our visit, and the only downfall is that they had no cafe or food court. But, with many fast food restaurants nearby, you can easily get some food somewhere.
