This place is an ideal campus hangout. Their selection of baked items, from bread to cakes to cookies, is large, fresh and delicious. Check out their chocolate chip bagel. Look for the samplers next to the order counters. They make good panini sandwiches and soups too. My favorite is the cheddar brocolli soup served in a bread bowl. The coffee is good too, with free unlimited refills while you're there. Bring your laptop along, because they have free wifi.

The Panera Bread of Newport Beach has a lot of natural light available inside, as well as a very nice patio setting outside. There is free Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) Internet service available for patrons and is a great study setting to accommodate the students at UC Irvine whenever finals are rolling around. The food is fast, fresh, and all bread is made on the premises every day. There's a wide array of salad, soup, sandwiches, bagels, and coffee drink choices for the whole family. It's also quaint enough to still use the setting for small business lunches and they offer catering to go! My favorites here are the Steak Bistro salad and the Roast Beef Asiago sandwich. Fresh fruit is available daily and 4 choices of coffee.

This particular Panera is spacious--there is lots of room for people to spread out, you can even lodge yourself in an isolated corner if you like. It's a great place to study or catch up on that book you've been working on. The coffee is decent and the refills are free. Plus, they offer soy milk for those patrons who prefer a non-dairy creamer. Their bagels are unique and flavorful--I would almost describe them as gourmet. I recommend the Asiago cheese with butter or the Chocolate Chip with hazelnut cream cheese. They also have a selection of gourmet sandwiches (regular or panini style), soups, and salads. Make sure to try the "Seasonal Specials". Also, they almost always have samples out, and everyone loves free samples!
