Great Place, Great Food and Great Service. To the guy below complaining about getting kicked out at the night of the night because his wife FELL ASLEEP at the bar----- Have you ever heard of liability!! Anyway, this place is just as awesome as it was 20 years ago. Hats off to the new owners.. Job well done. Pros: Awesome view, Hot Bartenders, Owners and staff make you feel welcome Cons: Meatheads may be lurking around there on the weekends.

I can't believe how the new management destroyed such a friendly place. No it is nothing but fights, kooks, date raape and rude people. The new owners are such arrogant pieces of S**T. They seem to think that they are doing you the favor letting you in there. The bouncers wont let u in unless you bribe them. Be smart, go elsewhere. Pros: None Cons: Lots of Aholes and cops waiting for u to leave

I've been going to Woody's Wharf for about 5 years now and I would have to say that i love it there. Its the place that i can go to where everyone knows my name. I think that since the new owners took over its been a good change. They have a friendlier staff thaty actually have female bartenders and have brought in a young fun group for the later night life that has always existed at woodys but was a joke before the new owners have taken over! Friday night is always a fun 80's band and Sunday is always fun at Woody's the champagne bruch is amazing along with the entertainment and all the locals that are there every week. I always enjoy a good bite a nice stiff drink and always knowing I'm going to have a great time with thestaff and all of my fellow locals! P.S. the Filet melts in your mouth!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: fun bartenders, food, parking

I have had the opposite experience at Woody's. We went a few times over our week vacation and were ALWAYS very well taken care of. Each time we had great service both in the bar and the restaurant. All of the waitress' were very friendly and the drinks were awesome. The bouncers were intimidating but that isnt that their job? Even the owners were there talking to costumers and making sure everyone was taking care of. I highly reccommend this place and their seabass is AMAZING!! Pros: dancing, bands, great food, great view..

TURN AND RUN (other good places noted below) Woody's used to be the kind of place you could have a fun time at, pretty much any time. The food was never great, but the crowd was always good, there was dancing and the bartenders were friendly. I don't know what happened, but it has to be new management. I knew it was going to be bad when I saw a flyer for woody's claiming "newport's largest dancefloor". The whole place isn't bigger than a couple of two car garages! And to be clear, there is no dance floor at all, they just move a few tables out of the way after the dinner hours are over. But just the idea that you would advertise that way... Sure enough, there is now always a line, and a high cover, even when the place is near-dead inside, because the LA-wannabe bouncers are trying to make it look "hot". For some category of people it must be working because there is always a handful of sad "inland empire" types waiting out front of the door. The bartenders must hate the owners too, because they go out of their way to be rude and take forever to serve at the bar. The food is the same as is ever was, but as I mentioned, that really isn't saying much. In the meantime, there is no shortage of fun places (with far less poser-attitude) right around the area. Try Sid's blue-beet, Sharkeez, Malarky's, Rudy's. If you have a boat, (used to be a key attraction of this place, too bad they've screwed that up too!) try Kantina next door, or The Cannery down the street, both have publicly available docks. Sad, sad ,sad. Woody's has changed hands a dozen times and I can't wait for it to change hands again. Pros: Lots of great history, great location Cons: Everything else (until they get new management)

We have had the SAME experience with Woodys recently. We brought our boat to Woody's, and the bouncer told us if we paid him $20 a head (approximately $200) that we wouldn't have to wait in line! I couldn't believe him! I felt like he was totally trying to take advantage of us. We didn't want to pay off the bouncer just to get in, so we went to see what the line was like, and when we decided that the line was too long and we were just going to leave, the bouncer wouldn't let us back to the boat! Woodys used to be so fun...what happened? UGH!! Pros: in the harbor Cons: the bouncers
