Location, location, location! Isn't that always the most important thing in real estate? Well, the Historic French Market Inn was a great base for our last vacation to New Orleans in September 2006. We were within walking distance of the Natchez stern-wheeler boat, the Aquarium of the Americas (and the IMAX theater next door), the French Market, Mother's (a local restaurant famous for poor-boy sandwiches), and Bourbon Street. The hotel occupys a restored historic building which was once the French capital of Louisiana. There's a quiet courtyard, but no swimming pool. The staff was over-worked, but they were friendly. The room was small but very nicely furnished with daily maid service including fresh soap and shampoo. All this for under $100 per day! It seems that the French Quarter avoided the floods that devastated much of the rest of New Orleans, and this hotel is a great place to stay if you're plans include a visit to the French Quarter.

This is the worst room I have ever had in NOLA. I took the "Virtural Tour" our room was nothing close to the tour. It was a tiny room with to much furniture both beds were broke and the mattresses were worn out years ago. The shower head was broke. No parking, no $1.99 breakfast, could not get into the tiny little bar 4 doors down from the hotel to get a cocktail the swimming pool wasn't a pool. It is in a great location and the staff was very friendly. If you have a bad back skip this one.
Pros: location
Cons: , tiny room, broken shower
